Re: Things you remember watching but can't remember the name

2. It's a TV series set in space. I think it had teams of children competing. The one thing I remember is that somebody has to be selected to cross a grid. They have to make it to the other side but, each time they move, a column of light moves towards them from the other side. If they choose the s...

Re: Iain M. Banks

I have read Consider Phlebas and Against a Dark Background, and they put me off reading Ian M Banks books completely. I thought they were both excellent stories but I came out of Against a Dark Background so depressed I couldn't handle any more of it! So can anyone recommend me a pleasant light and ...

Re: I'd like to know the name of this book/short story/comic

I remember Leviathan and the similar stories from "The Flight of The Horse". The novel Rainbow Mars was set in the same universe and was indeed to do with the World Tree and Orbital Giant Beanstalks. I hadn't realised they had collected all the short stories together as Rainbow Mars as wel...

Re: I'd like to know the name of this book/short story/comic

I came across one of those one chapter teasers at the back of a Terry Pratchett novel a few years back, and I've recently been trying to dig up the book. I can't remember for the life of me what the authors name was, or anything else pertinent to actually finding the thing. The story was about an a...

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I'm having trouble with the game of Caravan. I get to bet, then select my deck. Then my opponent lays his first card. I only get the option to discard a card. The select a card option is greyed out. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a bug? This last weekend has been a killer for me, I got the g...

Re: I'd like to know the name of this book/short story/comic

This was a sci-fi series of books and I found it in a second hand book 15 odd years ago. So not a very recent one. I don't really remember much of the plot, but it was set on a world that was divided up into hexagonal zones, each of which represented a planet/biosphere, there were weird different cr...

Are we only talking action games?

I found Day of the Tentacle, and the like pretty tricky. Back before walkthroughs all over the internet.

Re: Things you remember watching but can't remember the name of

It's an army movie in color. There are two main characters (i think) and at the end of the movie, they take off their helmets because they know they are going to get shot. I think there's also a scene of them crawling around a fountain with bodies laying there but I'm not sure if that's from the sa...

Re: Things you remember reading, but can't remeber the name of

When I was about nine or so I read this bizarre semi-horror children's fantasy novel (not exactly a large genre) relating the story of three (at least I think it was only three) English children who meet a unicorn and are given some sort of magical spear. The plot had to do with some alternate fant...

I've only actually read one from here (Fallen Angels http://www.webscription.net/10.1125/Bae ... 72052X.htm ) but that was pretty good!

Should be good for sci-fi I would think.

Re: Britannia

Had a cracking game at the weekend. The 3 of us who had been involved in the 3 player games plus one who hadn't played at all before. Yellow had a storming roman invasion, causing submission for the belgae and the briganti, and hammering several pictheads too. Welsh lost a couple of areas but didn't...

Re: Britannia

Well, I've played a couple of full games and tried the 3 player variant once. The full games went one to red and one to blue. The three player variant has some balence issues (naturally, the game is designed for four players after all) but I think that Blue having Wales makes them rather too strong....

Britannia

Anybody out there play Britannia? (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/240) I picked it up a couple of weeks back and have played it a few times now. It does seem like a good way to lose an afternoon. Any long term players, how is teh replayability? Other than playing as the different colours, do you ...
