Re: Stocks vs Broths
I usually use water as the base, if only because proper stock is problematic. (Allergies and other restrictions argh.) Proper stock does add depth and character, for sure. In lieu of stock, I'll fry up the initial garlic/onion/spices/tough veggies in the same pot that will be cooking the soup. It'll...

I took it as a play on "like ships passing in the night". Which, now that I've typed that out, seems less plausible than your thought.

There are a few bacteria that have propeller-type flagella, according to the wiki . There's actually a decently detailed discussion of "why not wheels" also on wiki . No intermediate forms that would survive competition with the simple and powerful intermediate forms of run/walk/swim/slith...

Looney Tunes, all the way. I think Tom and Jerry might have been my favourite, though Bugs was way up there. He was kinda mean sometimes, though.
Come to think of it, so was Jerry. I learned some poor socialisation strategies from that show.

I think the typical use differs for each version.
"It's for everyday use."
"Use it every day."
I have seen it used the way you mention, but I've always thought it was a typo.

I know of people (not personally) who are sexually attracted to the three things I mentioned, which is why I used them as examples. Serious answer: I think two-ness is part of the definition of polar. One [X] goes one way, the other [X] goes the other way. (Magnetic charge, electric charge, planetary rotation axis, that sort of thing.) Two-ended things in a state of one-ended-ness are described as monopolar, as in the eternal se...

Asexuality is defined as a lack of sexual attraction, more or less. As in, I'm not heterosexual because I'm not turned on by the opposite sex. I'm not homosexual because I'm not turned on by the same sex. (Also not turned on by any of the other things that some people are - cars, dogs, velociraptors...

Gender can be a strange issue. I'd describe myself as non-gendered, except that sometimes I do feel like a woman and occasionally like a man. And sometimes I can't even gender because what is that. There is correlation between asexuality, a-gender, and autism spectrum. I don't know whether there is ...

I'm asexual and occasionally post about it (here and other places). AVEN is a decent resource (www.asexuality.org). They have a "Meetup Mart" where folks from different cities post about where the group is going for coffee or whatnot.

Christmas day for the family becomes equal to "the day $family_member died". It rather screws up the holiday for them. (You're right that it might not be that bad for the dying one.)

"Lemon juice", at least around here, means the stuff squeezed straight out of the fruit. Not a highly sought-after beverage. Mostly used for cooking. (Also "punch" tends to mean mixed fruit something beverage sugar maybe booze? Not really descriptive of lemonade.)

Roughly in ascending order of politeness, I think.

As a kid, I thought it described someone who bugged you. A botherer, as it were. Made much more sense to me than the definition involving one's fiddly bits that turned out to be more widely accepted.
