They investigated Libby, just as they did with Clinton. And he committed perjury, so they charged him with committing perjury. Had Clinton ...

Oh, of course. Scooter Libby would be an obvious example of a much lesser thing that resulted in prison time. A single forgotten phone call was taken as evidence of intent to cover up the truth, bam, jail time. For a single piece of data, not the amount we see here. Scooter Libby was convicted for ...

To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions. But that is not what we are deciding now. This part bothers me. The idea...

Re: British EU referendum in June [update: Leave wins 52% - 48%, Cameron to resign by October]

As far as I can see, elasto made the claim that the main reason for this campaign was xenophobia. They didn't just make this claim, but also supported it with the following line of reasoning: I only really know of two core reasons for voting Leave. The first is to reduce immigration. The second is ...

While there are differences between the EU and Lucrece's hypothetical, I think it suffices for the point that not wanting to be subject to legislation from outside your country need not be an expression of xenophobia.
