Re: GLBT lit

It's not entirely helpful, but I know Clive Barker received a lot of GLBT awards and grants and crap. He's gay, but the stuff he writes, for the most part, is lower on gay characters than you might think. I mention it, however, as you may appreciate the style, which is a bit different because of hi...

Re: Atheism and Its Effect on One's Life

I am just as much an atheist as you, I just believe in one less deity. Honestly, I don't worry about the end. All good stories come to an end. If I made the world a better place. If I stole just one smile from the grim grips of reality, if I left just one person better off than they were, then I thi...

Re: Urban dead (GRAAAH!!!)

After a certain point I kind of got bored with Urban Dead. I picked up every skill possible, including the final zombie skill that makes it hard to get a rez. (I forget what it's called it's been so long).

Re: Homosexual Marriage?

I'm all for it. I might be biased, being bisexual (or as I like to define my sexuality: "yes".), and having a husband who lives in another country (which, to be fair, I could immigrate to), but can't bring here. By and large because some people think that a book written a few thousand year...

Re: Carrying Guns

I am afraid I can't point out a link to the statistics, but in the 95-96 MacMillan Visuall Almanac I saw two statistics about guns in the US that in a period where there were 20,000 (aprox) firearm related deaths (included all police shootings) that only 200 (aprox) were resolved as justified. I do...

Re: Recommend one artist

Matthew Good/Matthew Good Band. The best I can describe it is Canadian (therefore yeti related) anti-pop. It's really great stuff though. He has interesting lyrical flow and double meanings here and there. It's music I tend to listen to when I'm depressed but that's other issues at play I think rath...

Re: What is your favourite book?

Clive Barker's Great and Secret Show. I first read it when I was 18 and to this day I reread it every two years or so.

Re: Recommend a book

Sex and Death in Television Town. It's one strange and wild ride. From the first sentence you know this is *not* going to be an even reasonably normal book. It's all a large metaphor for the Hollywood take on sex and death.

Re: Settings as characters

The first Dune book struck me in a lot of ways like that. I second World's End.
