Re: 0992: "Mnemonics"

I'm sorry, this is probably going to sound incredibly ignorant, but in what high school class do you have to learn the Resistor Color Codes? That seems like the biggest waste of time. Also my favorite, for remembering the Kreb's Cycle: Can I Actually Sell Sex For Money Officer? Citrate, Isocitrate, ...

Re: 0911: "" (It's up now)

I haven't decided if this is funny because of the nostalgia/taking the Magic Schoolbus to look up something on Wikipedia, or whether it's funny because of the social commentary that their school is so poor that it was necessary to take the Magic Schoolbus to find a computer that has internet.

Awesome comic, although very reminiscent of the Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters trailer, and Jane Austen's Fight Club.

Hilarious, but I'm a little ashamed to admit that I was expecting an HIV/XMRV joke...

I might just be crazy, but I feel like recently the frequency of comics that incorporate color has increased. Anyone else notice something similar?

Woah, one of the few xkcd comics that utilize non-greyscale color... Anyone know what percent of xkcd actually use color in them?

Funny comic. But realistically, they devolve into calculated LOD scores... Punnet squares don't cut it for complex traits... Now, I know very little about biology, but is that something that can feasibly be done on a restaurant napkin/place setting/tablecloth? Exactly, and its only a first date too...

Re: "Pep Rally" Discussion

In High school, I actually liked days we had pep rallies/assemblies, since they were always right before our lunch period. We had an open campus, so right as we were walking over to the gym/field, we would "put our books in our cars" and leave for an early lunch off campus.

High school wasn't too bad... Given I was never interested in English or history, and all my other subjects were interesting...

For all you Sudbury School proponents, I just wanted to know how kids who go through that type of system can end up going to college? Is that an option for them?
