Can you provide more clarification on that? I haven't really heard anyone say it's worse than any other system

What about this reddit comment... oh, nevermind.

Re: 1167: "Star Trek into Darkness"

These guys have enough self-irony to start discussing how to capitalize "Xkcd" when referring to this comic.

Re: The Hobbit

The movie is okay. It was fun to watch, but one thing irritated me. The picture misrepresents the story. The story describes small, local adventure that does not focus on global events. However, the picture the director composed was too epic for such a small event. Panoramic views, prolonged battles...

Re: Definition of Free Will

Or would you say it's impossible for us to define or observe anything as freely acting? Given that there is a struggle with defining an actual experiment to verify a nonzero degree of free will, it's probably impossible to observe . This doesn't mean that it's impossible to define, but what it coul...

Given that the estimate of oxygen in river water should be around 0.1-1%, Amazon still ships more air than Amazon.com.

They fixed it. It was bigger, and didn't fit into the page properly.

Re: 1161 Hand Sanitizer

I wonder, will I get fired after posting this comic near every hand sanitizer in the cafe at work--for subverting public health?

Edit: oh no, I won't. There is a simple countermeasure for such a case: post a sign "To leave less than one germ, just apply the gel three times." :D

Re: Definition of Free Will

Maybe the "metrological" approach could work? For instance, what experiment could I carry out to verify that I have free will? You should be able to prove that you yourself have free will, or at least a degree of free will, as most here do not consider this a binary question, by first thi...

Re: Possible to look into the past?

So, i watch the science channel alot, and what i've gathered, its possible to look into the past, in theory, You can achieve the same effect by watching camera recordings, in terms of the ability to do something with the information about the past you receive. Besides, cameras are not just a theory.

Re: Definition of Free Will

Free will, at its essence, involves the ability to choose. Could you clarify why? To me, free will doesn't necessary involve the ability to choose. It only requires—and is equivalent to—the ability to understand what "you" might and might not do, to realize how "your" actions af...
