Re: Trump presidency

To be honest, I don't see how this government shutdown is going to end. Trump is never going to be one to backdown, and the democrats certainly shouldn't give into his ridiculous demands, especially as they've all been elected to stand up to him (at least in part). https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-u...

Re: Teachers being trained to kill kids

No, but proponents of arming teachers would argue that the three day course is better than simply giving the teachers the weapons with no training at all. And of course, opponents of arming teachers would argue that giving them the weapons at all is pointless, because it puts more people into a lin...

Re: Controversial opinions about food

Why do they put salt on the peanut shells? The shell is discarded and what is inside the shell is eaten. If you want salt on your peanuts, shouldn't it be applied to the peanuts instead of the part that's discarded? That just discards the salt as well. I thought they soak the peanuts+shells in brin...

Salted in the shell peanuts are disgusting.

I quite like raw peanuts though. And the flavoured ones you get these days are pretty good. But I am a peanut fan in general.

Re: Teachers being trained to kill kids

@Chen So you see nothing wrong with a course that is aimed at teachers basically just telling them to fire when threatened? Or even not threatened, given the first scenario had the teacher killing two students who were running away from the gun fire. If this 'training' has been going on for more tha...

Re: Teachers being trained to kill kids

Arming teachers with guns after a 3 day crash course that emphasizes how every student is a potential murder-machine -- and they're wholly within their legal rights to kill them whenever they feel threatened -- is definitely the right move, here. I/m glad I'm not the only one reading this like that.

Teachers being trained to kill kids

Yes, I have gone for a click baity title, but this is literally what this school sounds like it's doing from the article:

Inside a US training course to arm teachers.

No de-escalation. The only passing criteria is being able to hit a human sized target, doesn't matter if you hit the right one.

I think they said 512? So end of the Renaissance? Given the numerous cultures of the world at that point, it seems suspect that one big event would be responsible. I'll be interested to see if it is actually Bad Place tampering, or the Good Place just not wanting any more people because it was ...

Clearly I am the only one still watching this! Pity, because this week's episode was pretty intense. I'm having trouble sorting out my thoughts about it. I like that Nia's power is only supposed to be in the women of her people, this is a good, subtle reminder that being trans doesn't mean n...

Surely the easiest way to make it double blind is to just encase the figuring in something digestable. Then give a fully digestable pill as the placebo.
