Moving between UE countries is super easy (although French cops are currently making pedestrian movement between Italy and France very complicated). However if you aren't allowed to work somewhere, life will be difficult. (And this is also why it sounds funny when Americans claim they will massively...

I only take calls from numbers I know. I can afford that because I am not looking for a job or doing anything complicated. If they don't leave a message, they are probably a spambot. And if they don't and try more than once, I google for them and generally blacklist them. (I don't mean to suggest th...

Re: Things you remember watching but can't remember the name of

That might be a common trope in old school fairy tales, but it wouldn't sell well these days (because the targetted audience of a show in which the protagonist is a teenager wouldn't want to see that). In general tvtropes.org is a nice tool for such searches, but in this case this isn't a common tro...

The original comment was that Swiss look down on others and I agreed, Of course they do. Because they all live on high alpine meadows (making cuckoo clocks out of army-knife-carved Toblerones and cow-bells made of Nazi gold). But then shouldn't they welcome massive imaginary Nepalese immigration? (...

That's a good thing about Netflix, they give some visibility to non-American productions (alas they do that in a very random manner). Most probably they are merely Eastern Europe (for a Cold War definition of Eastern Europe) and therefore prejudiced against. Anyway my impression is that the Swiss look down on everyone else.

This week I did some tourism in my own country. On two occasions, staff talked to me in English first, then went like "Oh, vous êtes français" as I replied in French. This is quite funny, and I am pretty sure that they would have used French first like five or ten years ago.

Calling this day Bastille Day is factually true; it is just not how people from my country name it. Also most of us aren't aware of that, but the main thing to be "celebrating" about would be the lynching of soldiers who had no say about French politics (and some of them were from Switzerl...

Death Proof was (I think) less violent than other movies of his, and it was a commercial failure.

Also I like the idea that strongish authors do whatever they want, instead of the same old thing that is dictated by big companies.
