Re: Fleeting Thoughts: Movie and TV Shows

I'm 3 episodes into the new She-Ra series, and it's pretty solid. it's got sort of a Ghibli meets Don Bluth simplified style and reminds me a bit of Avatar: The Last Airbender, there's world building and magic rules, and they're upfront about 'people have died in this war' but also there's the 'jum...

In general cop shows tell you that cops are awesome people who never do anything wrong. Are you white and did you like omit to pay your taxes? Your cop friends will help you fix that. You most probably know the Police misbehavior thread already. Most fiction (especially American fiction) is propagan...

The Christian families were bewildered, 'why do they hate us, the trinity is very simple it's just a 3 sided paper, we aren't polytheists how could they say that about us' While I was born in what is historically a Catholic country (and my four grandparents were Catholics) that trinity thing that i...

I went to Spain for vacation during my time in college and my dad gave me 500 euro for spending money. Except, he gave me a single bill of 500 euros. It took a long time until I found a business who was willing to break it. Definitely not the most practical note for everyday spending. Doesn't mean ...

Well, people can see your eye colour from the photo on the ID, I've not seen it explicitly listed on the ID. Same with sex/gender, the photo is enough to tell people what you look like. My (French) id says I have brown eyes. So does my passport. Height is not super easy to judge accurately anyways ...

I don't think Netflix worries much about truth when marketing their offer. It is telling how they label "Netflix originals" some Japanese animated series that they haven't produced at all (except for the dubs I guess).

Re: Things you remember watching but can't remember the name of

That might be a common trope in old school fairy tales, but it wouldn't sell well these days (because the targetted audience of a show in which the protagonist is a teenager wouldn't want to see that). In general tvtropes.org is a nice tool for such searches, but in this case this isn't a common tro...
