Re: Photography thread.

Shot all of these with my phone. Getting started with photography and should be getting a real camera soon. Most of these are from hiking in Washington state. Re: Men's Fashion

I love the "clean-looking" look...you know, jeans or pants that aren't tight but definitely aren't baggy or loose-fitting, and the same for the shirt, with decent looking shoes (personally, I like vans or chucks). I love American Eagle jeans and plain crewneck t-shirts. For the fancier eve...

Re: Google+ invites - who wants them?

I can send out invites as well -- only a few of my friends are tech savvy and I could use a couple extra people to get more use of the service/figure out how it all works/get to know new people. Just send the email in a pm :)

Re: 0918: "Google+"

I'm enjoying the site and think it has a lot of potential but really right now I just need to get more people to join or befriend more people I don't know (yet). None of my irl friends are truly tech savvy (save one or two) and keep up to date on stuff like this.

Re: Great Steam Deals (And other Online Distribution Systems

The Mass Effect series is on sale today. I've played through ME2 and it's probably my favorite game so far...so I just picked up ME1 today for $5. Super excited to play it, but the bandwith here is crap now that classes are over and everybody is in their rooms "studying" i.e. on their comp...

Too bad this wouldn't really affect any records at all - the gap between the Sergey Bubka and the next highest vaulter is almost 10cm...and he set that record back in 1993!

For the record his best jump was recorded at 6.15m at an indoor meet.

Re: Canadian military seems to be pretty cool, dontcha think

Kind of a side note I hadn't thought of before: if a male gets a sex change and becomes a female (ie his "target gender" is female), will he be allowed to go into combat? And for the most part, uniforms are the same for both genders (excluding dress uniforms and such). Here at USNA, our wo...

Re: Applications 2009

I'm a junior this year and will be applying in the spring. However, I've already started getting ready - SATs are on December 6th, and I went to a college fair on Monday where I requested info from a variety of schools. Currently I'm looking at - Washington State University (probably for sports medi...

What is honors college (and other questions)

I'm a junior in high school, and I guess it's about the time for me to start looking around at different colleges to see where I want to go. However, we haven't really talked about this subject in school at all, and although I'm sure we will at the end of the year, I'd like to get a jump start. As I...

Re: Climbing comp season is coming... (Merged: Climbing)

Ok, so it's been almost four months since the last post, so I'm going to bring this thread alive again. I'm really surprised that there's so many climbers here at xkcd. Even just reading the pullup thread I noticed that it was primarily climbers that were posting (or holding the discussion). Anyways...

Re: One Hundred Push-ups Challenge

Heh, this is my first post here but these fora look like a really nice community, so hopefully this is the start of something great. Anyways, I'll provide some physical info on myself. I'm 17 years old, around 5' 9.5", about 137lbs, and am toned more than I am "bulky". I've rockclimbe...
