Re: 1761: "Blame"
What does it say about our country when the reasons we expect things won't get worse is because the leaders we've elected aren't powerful enough to make things worse? We're not even talking about whether or not Trump wants to murder innocent Muslims; we already know he does (he's said so). We're ta...

Re: 1761: "Blame"
It will not "be okay to torture LGBT people until they say they're cishet". Women will not "be forced to hold funerals for their miscarriages". There will not be "a Muslim registry". He never said they would. The things you think you were responding to there weren't pr...

Re: 1761: "Blame"
What purpose would my doing that serve? DO I need to quantify my prediction and then wait two years before I can say a VP who thinks it should be okay to torture LGBT people until they say they're cishet, and who thinks women should be forced to hold funerals for their miscarriages, will be bad for...

Re: 1761: "Blame"
gmalivuk, may I make a suggestion? On a piece of paper, write down some objectively measurable predictions for the next year or two of Trump's presidency. Put it in a safe place, look at it after a year or two, and see how accurate they turn out to be. I have a prediction of my own. The Clinton Foun...

Re: 1756: "I'm With Her"
Comic about voting in American election, endorsing democratic candidate... Forum thread about comic... Ten pages into discussion... Oh, come the fuck off it. The Hebrews worshipped a golden cow as an idol while they waited for Moses to return. That’s the etymology. That's the XKCD I know and love! ...

Re: 1756: "I'm With Her"
From my perspective (a left-wing European) it appears that many Americans want the freedom to impinge on the rights of others. To me that doesn't appear to be freedom as it restricts one, or, usually, more people to increase the benefit to another, so is, in fact, a reduction in freedom. If everyon...

Re: 1756: "I'm With Her"
(long quote removed) I didn't completely follow that stream-of-consciousness post. I don't want everything to devolve into tribes, where Republicans only listen to and support other Republicans and Democrats only listen to and support other Democrats. We should be able to all enjoy the same things ...

Re: 1756: "I'm With Her"
Sometimes people want to take a break from politics and be able to enjoy something with people who don't share their political views. No matter what people believe, they should be able to enjoy non-political websites, sports, television, products, and all of the other things that make life better. I...

Re: 1501: Mysteries
Another odd thing that isn't well known is the Dancing Plague (not linked because the spam filter doesn't like it, but you can look it up on wikipedia). In the middle ages, hundreds of people would dance uncontrollably for days, sometimes until they died. Does anyone else have any other good ones no...

Re: 1203: "Time Machines"
I misinterpreted it as well. I thought that since his hands were closer to the machine than the rest of him, they were affected by it to a greater extent. They would have experienced more time and aged faster, as well as having messed up blood flow. In the last panel, he was wondering, "why are...

Re: 1190: "Time"
I opened the page in a second window and the image was slightly different from the first. The lines were thinner and the figures were in a slightly different position. It hasn't changed since.
