Re: Board games anyone?

I want to play Power Grid sometime. I played my first games of Warmachine today. I got totally stomped by more experienced players, but it was fun. Warmachine/hordes is a great game and is a lot of fun. Aside from that I've been playing Last Night on Earth, Chaos in the Old World, Super Dungeon Exp...

Re: Nerds In MMA

Good luck with this MJ. I started at a local MMA gym about 10 weeks ago, began with MMA and BJJ sessions. Now I'm just hooked on BJJ, it is a really fun art and takes a lot of mental effort as each move has a counter and then there is a counter to each counter, it really is like a game of chess on t...

Re: Board games anyone?

I have to agree with Novax6, Chaos in the Old World is a really great game and so much fun to play. The Horned Rat expansion is really good as well and having the extra player really adds to the game.

Re: Malifaux - Tabletop skirmish

I've been playing this for about 9 months now and it is really great fun. The minis are made of win (mostly, some are a major pain to assemble such as the Guild Peacekeeper...) The fluff is great too and it is a pretty fast game to pick up and play.

Re: EVE Online

Hmm, just about to finish training Recons 5 (<3 Curse) and am not sure which to go for next. I am kinda tempted by command ships, mainly cos the Damnation looks so purty and the Absolution is a beast, but am also considering going down the caps route and training for a Revelation and Archon. Re: EVE Online

A couple months ago I started up a new minmatar alt, but until now haven't had a clue what to do with him. So, just for a laugh, I thought I'd join RvB with him and I have to say it has been great fun so far. Due to the (uncharacteristically) sunny weather I've not had much play time this weekend, b...

Re: EVE Online

@Halbarad - Caldari towers ECM bonus is nice, but the typical defences for these towers are missile batteries which rely on CPU. Unfortunately this means that as soon as your POS goes into reinforced mode the missile batteries switch off.

Re: EVE Online

@Halbarad- I run a 0.0 pos for myself and a friend and we base our mining alts out of it. I use a Domination (minmatar) medium tower and the only non-defence modules that I use are a large ship assembly array (18mill m3 storage space rather than a corp hangar array) and a ship storage thingy. I pick...

That defence was my first time in any kind of large scale fleet fighting, so it was really exciting and hugely epic to see and to be involved in. Being in a huge, multi-fleet armada on the way to dish out the pain to the invaders is really cool for a while. Then the lag happens and you are left repe...

Astrometrics and its secondary skills (astrometrics rangefinding/aquisition/theotheroneIcan'tremeber) are useful to have for scouting as well so you can probe out that other ship who is hiding in their safe spot, although for the most part you wouldn't need to use them, more a 'nice to have on hand'...

Re: EVE Online

To be quite honest I didn't even think about sentry guns. I pvp in 0.0 so it really isn't something that I think about. This wasn't really about sending someone off to pvp in a frigate, it was more about informing them that you can pvp in smaller ships and you don't need to wait until you have hundr...

Re: EVE Online

I do fit a DC2 to pretty much anything that I fly, simply because it ignores stacking resist penalties and the extra 60% hull hp is a godsend, especially on amarr and galllente ships which typically have high structure hp.

Re: EVE Online

Due to it's resistance bonus (5% per amarr frigate level) and its naturally high armour level the punisher can take a surprising amount of damage for a frigate. It is still only a frigate though so its best defence is getting under the guns of larger ships and avoiding damage that way. Interceptors ...

Re: EVE Online

Good call Mishrak, I look at every ship that I take out of the hangar as a ship that I WILL lose, just a question of how and when (and how embarrassingly). Re: EVE Online

T2 beam lasers really do make the difference with sniping. Using gleam crystals you have +80% to your optimal range (although you get a huge tracking penalty of -75% iirc) plus the apoc gets a 7.5% optimal range bonus per level of amarr battleship, also you get +25% optimal from having sharpshooter ...

Explains a lot, with lasers the crystals really make a huge difference. If you can get your hands on some Multifrequency for close range work then you will see a significant increase in your dps. I'm starting to try out some Amarr ships. It's not easy because the new system my alliance has moved to is extremely poorly stocked. I'd have to agree with King of Frogs (ok, never expected to hear myself say that at any point) and say Street Spirit by Radiohead, I'd also say that Rylynn by Andy Mckee (no words but a very sad melody) and Storm by Lifehouse are both contenders too.
