Re: Travelling Engineering Activity Kit

at my school (RIT), hardware is a big part, but we don't learn much about hardware (other than circuit analysis and simple digital system) until our final two years in the program. Anyway, thanks for the ideas. I have no clue what my teacher is looking for. She wants a "wow demo" (a la Pit...

Travelling Engineering Activity Kit

So there's this acronym: TEAK. It stands for Travelling Engineering Activity Kit (the website is down right now; power's out on campus and I guess the server in question is affected). I'm doing an internship and one of my responsibilities is to make up one of these activity kits about Computer Engin...

Re: sleep, SIGINT, ctrl c, etc.

Thanks. There must be something wrong on my system because neither of those work at all. They both just print "hello" until i send SIGSTP.

sleep, SIGINT, ctrl c, etc.

so i expect the snippet below to print "hello" every second and print "ouch: 2" (I think it's 2...the number doesn't really matter) when i hit Ctrl-C. I also expect Ctrl-\ to kill the process. The only part of that that works is the "hello" part and to end the program, ...

Re: XKCD Mobile

Appears to be broken; the PHP is simply throwing a parse error. I would have posted over on the icorey site, btw, but the comments link just gives me a 404. it works now. around jan 7 when you posted this, my hosting expired. it was supposed to renew automatically, and it did, but they decided i di...

Re: OpenGL project + xkcd

you can define your own font
http://www.cs.rit.edu/usr/local/pub/wrc/courses/graphics/doc/opengl/books/red/chapter08.html (see example 8.2)

but I definitely don't need to do that for the project (and so i won't).

Re: OpenGL project + xkcd

After re-reading the project description and looking over some OpenGL, I decided to work on The Sea . Check it out: http://icorey.com/school/cg-project1.png I might need to change some things around to meet the requirements. But overall, I'm pretty impressed by how simple this was with OpenGL and ho...

OpenGL project + xkcd

I'm taking a class on computer graphics. OpenGL is our API of choice. For our first project, we have to create a simple illustration (no animation) with OpenGL. Since I love xkcd, I thought it would be awesome to code an xkcd comic in OpenGL. Here's the problem: which one do I use? We need to includ...

Re: xkcd calender

Make your own! The comic has a Creative Commons license. yeah, but you couldn't sell it, right? I don't get your point. I don't get your point. If you made a fancy print calendar, showed it off, and everyone liked it and said "gimme," you would need to sell it (as opposed to giving them a...

Re: XKCD Mobile

it looks like there's an iphone app for xkcd, but for those of us without iphones, I created an xkcd mobile page. http://www.icorey.com/xkcd it takes xkcd.com and strips everything but the images, titles, hover text, and links (first, prev, random, next last). let me know if it doesn't work for you....
