Re: Your video game ideas

I don't know if I want a purely negative state - I like the desirable state being contextual. Enemies who just smack away for tons of damage you want to scare so they hit less hard/often. Ones who rely on charging up attacks or buffing their party you want to anger - they will tend to use single-tur...

Re: Your video game ideas

I had the idea for a turn based combat system where enemy emotions play a large role...... Interesting. To be this sounds like a "win more" mechanic. That is to say, a mechanic that makes thing easier of the winner and tends to all but settle the outcome For shorter fights/mooks this seem...

Re: RPG Maker MV

Yeah, any scripting would probably be focused on the combat system, which I hear is fairly generic and restrictive in most RPG Maker versions if you don't use plugins.

Definitely gonna aim for making stuff with discrete episodes or other small chunks so I can have concrete short term goals.

RPG Maker MV

I've flirted with the idea of getting RPG Maker before, and my interest has been recently re-sparked by learning that MV has scripting in JavaScript, which I am adept with (I don't know any true programming languages). I've seen a lot of people say that its limitations mean that if you don't want to...

Re: Your video game ideas

This is more of a game mechanic idea, but I had the idea for a turn based combat system where enemy emotions play a large role. The battle system would have a lot of hard counters, and so predicting enemy actions would be important. Each enemy would have an emotion spectrum, something like: Angry Ag...

The two Kairosoft games (Game Dev Story and Hot Springs Story) they kept releasing with different themes tacked on. Grindy, poorly documented, trial and error, reward loop games. Essentially addictive mobile games that you buy in full instead of including micro-transactions.

Yeah, I wish there were more unique bosses, but otherwise I've been really loving it. On the other hand, I suppose the mountain of tools MGS gives you can be more about personal express...

That does seem kinda silly though, that places can't be a mix of religions. That for all gameplay purposes the entire population just flips.

Questions about religion: 1. Is the religion of a province just a single value, or is there a hidden count of what percentage of the population is each religion? It seems kinda weird for provinces to just instantly swap from one religion to another. 2. Do temples help convert provinces, aside from t...

This is seriously bugging me:

Spoiler:
Aside from shitty plot contrivance, why on earth would Death give Dean his scythe, if it really can kill him? Even if for some reason he wants Dean himself to kill Sam, why the hell give him such a powerful weapon when a simple knife or gun will do?

I just watched the season 10 finale. That was god-awful... Dean just easily kills Death by swinging the scythe into him (nice reflexes, Death)? Lucifer was just being influenced by the mark? Sam and Dean are going to stop something that was difficult for God + all four archangels to stop? So...

Anyone else get Type-0 HD? Very much enjoying it so far - very different in tone and structure than any other FF I've played. Very challenging as well, which I like. I don't know about the works of Lovecraft, but as for me and my house... Christian eschatology pretty much precludes the possibility of permanent settlements off-earth. It does? I think we'll go extinct before we ever set up permanent off-world settlements. How??? Various possible ways - plague, war, disease, resource depletion. Is it just me, or are some of the vanilla cards becoming completely obsolete with the arrival of superior Nax and GvG cards? I guess they need to create incentive to buy new packs, but it sucks to make stuff that's almost always superior (and maybe strictly superior in some cases?)

I am dying surprisingly often in the early game - at the Locke/Celes branch now. It's not too frustrating, but I think I'll enjoy the extra difficulty more when stat and gear customization come into play. Right now it seems like it's mostly item and MP management, which I tend to be way too frugal at.
