Re: Dota 2 Beta

By the way, it seems new players that want to watch the tournament through the client will have to 1) Get past the queue 2) Finish the tutorial Which could be really annoying and put off a lot of people. Also, for those who missed it there is some talk about dota2 in the starcraft thread. They've j...

Re: Anno 2070

So Anno2070 is on sale this weekend on Steam; I'm considering buying it.

Do you need to dedicate large blocks of time to play the game or can you do it in short bursts? Also, how does it compare to something like SimCity or Cities in Motion?

Re: Spartacus: Blood and Sand

I didn't think this warranted a new thread just for Vengeance, since there was some talk about Gods of the Arena here anyway.

Anyone watching Spartacus: Vengeance? It's just started again, on episode two now, and has a new actor for Spartacus.

Re: EVE Online

OK, I have a free weekend coming up and was thinking of giving this a try. How easy is it to get into? Would I need to read up a lot before being half-way competent or could I jump in and pick it up reasonably well? My only experience of MMOs is 5 years of WoW and I tried Star Trek online when it f...

Re: EVE Online

I joined up with a new-ish corp with only 5-6 members and they're pretty cool people. Been running level 4 missions with them and stuff. I get the feeling that they're kinda scared of moving their base of operations into low-sec/0.0, though. Is their fear warranted? How feasible would it be for me ...

So I've just finished the tutorial agents for Gallente, pretty stoked. I do have one question about the skill syst...

Made a throwaway 14 day trial until I get my friends' 60 day one, just to learn how to do things. So far I've just been doing some courier missions, doing a bit of mining, and a little bit of space combat for the agents in Clellinon. It's pretty fun so far but I feel so overwhelmed with everything, ...

I'm in the middle of downloading the free trial from steam. Ah, so excited! I don't actually know what the specific mechanics will...

Sorry to go against the flow of the current discussion, but I was wondering how appropriate EVE would be for a new player to get into - given that I won't be able to dedicate lots of time once semester starts. I bought a Kindle earlier last year and it's been pretty good so far. Funnily enough, I too am also working my way through ASOIAF (re-reading it since the first time I went through I was a bit too young and didn't really get it). One thing I am a bit disappointed about is the UI for the Kindle 3G an...

It's the first person shooter-tower defense on Steam. I've done a search and only came up with a few posts briefly mentioning it in the Steam Deals thread, so I thought I'd start a thread! Sanctum has its gameplay split into two phases, a building phase, and a defense phase. The building phase occur...

There's this place in NZ called Burgerfuel. They make such amazing burgers! They're very slowly branching out; most of their stalls are in Auckland (NZ), with a couple scattered throughout the rest of NZ. They have like 3 stores overseas in places like Dubai; pretty sure none in America. It's only a...

You guys mentioned that modems may not be IPv6 compatible. We recently bought a modem and router - is there a big possibility that we'll need to replace it just to connect to the internet once the switch starts happening?

What about The Dark Knight? The Joker sort of wins, in a sense. He managed to corrupt Harvey Dent, and forced Batman to take the fall. So in a thematic sense I think he won?

Calculating the effectiveness of passive solar heating

Perhaps some introductions are necessary. I'm a first year engineering student currently doing a conceptual design project. Basically, we were asked to choose from several quite open ended topics (all involving a poorly developed region called Bendee Downs, and trying to 'revamp' it I suppose) and d...
