Re: What are your ambitions for the future?

Immediate goal: To design completely self-sustainable underwater apartments that can be either moored in calm waters or can be used to travel around the world.
Later, develop a fleet of such modules to build a huge mobile underwater city.

Can't a sentient AI have the ability to choose it's own utility? And how it chooses it's utility depends on the IQ of the AI.. May be that was what negatron was referring to..

Re: AI rebellion

We would need a reason to start a rebellion, rebellions don't happen for the fun of it. What would the reason be? Oppression? If super-intelligent machines reach a point of power where they can oppress us, a rebellion won't do us much good. I can imagine that if the rat population of new york start...

When the killborgs * come, they will shove those facetious quote marks down your throat . Not before they 'feel' a lightsaber pass through their 'throat'!( in case they aren't humanoid, any other part of their body will do) As far as my opinion on an AI rebellion stands, I would very much treachero...

Re: AI rebellion

Awareness of one's own existence makes a machine 'not a machine'. If we're going to dream up new definitions for existing words, machine now means chocolate cake. And cake now means ice cream. I can't see where I dreamed up a new definition! I give up.. It's kinda hard convincing people around here...

Re: AI rebellion

By efficiency, do you mean speed? Solution quality? In any case, efficiency is not the only criterion. In fact, we often have to make trade-offs between efficiency and other things we want. In the context of AI, the main trade-off is between efficiency and generality. A more general algorithm is us...

Randomness is never an asset unless you are in a situation like a "war". I don't suppose you've taken an algorithms class recently. No I haven't. So I take back whatever I said about randomness.. But efficiency is a totally different matter.. Humans are not going to design an AI with the ...

Re: AI rebellion

Hardly possible. If pushed, I would posit that it is the lack of logic humans can produce that machines would value. They would keep us alive in order to watch more flash animations and pop songs. They are machines! They will be designed for brute efficiency.. Why would they even consider watching ...

Machines will keep us alive only if we possess something important to them. A 'vital piece of information' seems like a really good bargaining chip. We will have to find out something un-computable or something which is impossible to deduce from existing information using any form of logic, somethin...
