Re: Are you Ready for some "Football"!!! NFL Discussion

The Bills going 3-0 is crazy. The win against the Patriots was mind-numbingly wild. The Lions at 3-0, a bit less so, but then I'm expecting big things from them this year. The surprise to me is an 0-3 on the Vikings. They have incredible first halves, and then just kind of stop. Packers gonna pack.

Re: 16 Year old charged with murder after cop shoots his fri

Odd law, but I'm having trouble finding sympathy for the accused. He did something really dumb and dangerous, and it caused someone to die. While I'm not sure that he should be legally responsible, he certainly bears a great deal of the moral blame. I have no problem with the felony murder rule for...

Re: US Debt Ceiling reached

Honestly, if we want to get control of the budget, the first place to look is Defense - we spend more than every other country on the planet combined, and 6x more than the next-highest spender (China). In FY 2010, it was roughly 20% of *all* federal expenditures. Sadly, cutting defense won't get yo...

<.<
It's not a porn ban, guys. Everyone knows that Japan couldn't sustain a ban on their number one export. It's regulating what content can be in an anime or manga for people under 18.

I don't have an inherent problem with the idea, but a some of the things in question are just petty.

Yeah, the bloodlines are just ROYGBIV, with pink somewhere around violet and minus the red. Red is apparently not a normal part of the hemospectrum. It's worth noting that really high bloods are sea dwellers, as far as can be told, and the land dwellers tend to hate the sea dwellers. A lot. Eridan g...

You cannot logically create logic. No one can. It needs axioms, axioms which don't need to hold true even if they apparently do right here and now. Causation, particularly, is usually needed for logical and scientific systems, but we can't say for certain it always does or will apply. Indeed, and t...

I appreciate PeterCai's points now that I understand them better, but I too think they are too extreme. By that criteria even science, which is a values system, is inherently unscientific. After all, science is based on some untestable, and frankly arbitrary, values. For example, that what we obser...
