Re: Podcast Recommendation Thread

Cortex is definitely a great podcast. CGPGrey and Myke Hurley topics mainly centered around being self employed, schedules, workflow, etc. Of course, if I'm mentioning that, I should of course bring up Grey's other podcast, Hello Internet . Which is more of a general 2 guys talking type of podcast ...

Re: Podcast Recommendation Thread

The crazy premise of that kind of reminds me of another podcast, The Useless Majors.
To sum it up briefly: people get superpowers from radioactive college degrees.
Though they've been pretty inactive as of late, the last new episode was early march, and before that was one in september.

Podcast Recommendation Thread

Taking the guidelines from the great recommendation thread in movies/tv: If you're giving a recommendation - Clearly state what it is and what it's all about. If you're asking for a recommendation - Clearly state your likes, dislikes, and if certain genres or styles do not appeal to you. Just to get...

Re: The Misogyny Kool-Aid

You know that the creator of The Misogyny Kool-Aid movie was a feminist when they started looking into it, right? Yes, I'm aware. It's basically the tagline of the whole documentary. In what sense does that matter? If you were going to make a documentary on the MRA movement as a whole, why would yo...

I'm not meaning that the individual man is to blame for his troubles, but that men and masculine culture, in general, are. Unless you have the specific methodology used in the survey on how they classified 'rape victims', I'm not sure you should trust that data set for argumentative purposes. Re: The Misogyny Kool-Aid

Let me put it this way - a ridiculously low number of sexual assaults and rape are actually reported to the authorities 1 . Even assuming ALL rape accusations are fake, the number of actual rapes vastly outnumbers the complaints. 1 From the same study I mentioned, out of ~250 people they've intervi...

Separate but equal is a contradiction in terms. If you are arguing people should be kept separate, you are arguing that they are different in some way and thus not equal. If you believe everyone is equal, then there is no good argument for separating people based on arbitrary characteristics like r...

Anywho, I think it best to let states hold more power in general in comparison to the federal government when it comes to issues of morality in general. If you don't like how one state does things, you can a) try to convince that state why they are wrong, or b) just move to another one. Would you a...

As long as you could convince all of the other states to repeal the 2nd Amendment and the interstate commerce clause. As I said, it's more of an economic issue: I'm fine with having federal regulations for large corporate entities, I'd imagine it's more practical to have one set of guidelines over ...
