Re: 2039: "Begging the Question"

One of the first big words I learnt to use correctly was malapropism.

Re: 1884: "Ringer Volume/Media Volume"

I found this today : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=catchpower.gogo.mediavolumeonly Simple small app that locks volume to media only. For myself, I hardly need to set the volume of ring and notifications, and when I do it's to mute them. (It requires call status information to know wh...

Re: 1884: "Ringer Volume/Media Volume"

Is it just me or does it seem that Google engineers just don't care about sane audio controls? A simple mute button would be awesome. And how about disabling volume controls for notifications and ringing and alarms, and only ever do media controls? Really.

Re: 1507: “Metaball”

Metaball implies the rules change and are part of the game. It did not seem to be and I would just call it Chimeraball.

Calvinball was way more "meta".

Press Alt-SPACE, then hit 'M' and use your cursor keys to move it back onscreen. Usually when it moves a single pixel it immediately clips it back onto your screen.

Edit: I see @Killroy was here before me...

Re: 1140: "Calendar of Meaningful Dates"

I think that it's interesting that March 21 (first day of spring) gets some notoriety, but that winter solstice/first day of summer/fall do not. I guess in cold places, people get really excited over spring. March 21st is not just an equinox, but a traditional new year's date in a lot of cultures. ...

Re: 1140: "Calendar of Meaningful Dates"

Date aliases needed to be taken into account. Christmas, New Year, etc. Even Thanksgiving, Easter, Black Friday etc. as well. Sure, these are not absolute dates and can vary between cultures, but that too can be taken into account statistically.

Re: 1065: "Shoes"

It’s strange, how people think, running barefoot would be weird… I mean don’t they realize that their feet must have evolved over hundreds of millennia, to do exactly this job, and do is much better than anything shoes could offer? Shoes are useful… if you plan on running over broken glass, pools o...

Re: 1065: "Shoes"

Having broken my foot recently, I was reading about foot injuries, and they have been on the rise along with the popularity of these shoes. (no, I didn't break my foot because of shoes such as these) There are actually studies that do point out the correlation to the price of shoes being directly r...

Re: 1065: "Shoes"

I have a pair of those shoes, and what makes the shoes comfortable are the soles. Those Vibram soles are great. However I do not like the toe thing... my pinkie toe always slips out - They made some assumptions about toes which may not suit us all... and then you need special socks. Argh. Do yoursel...

Re: "Dilution" Discussion

Ah I get it now. The average human ejaculates 500 000 000 sperm max, and 2^30 is just over 1 000 000 000, which would mean half a sperm is left. That is the joke, right? That aside, I think homeopaths have the right idea to treat the person instead of the symptom. I just don't believe in their 'scie...

Right. So, we've got an untitled graph (unless the title of the COMIC is also the title of the graph...) with an unlabelled y-axis, an X-axis whose only label is "TIME", and three sets of data (two of which are indistinguishable). Just by the standards of "Is this graph legible?"...
