Re: Cannot Send Information Faster Than Light

This is something I have been wondering about for some time as well. Although you can indeed only send "random" information by reading the spin, wouldn't it be possible to do something using quantum erasing ? Consider the experiment in the wiki article. Laser light is sent thought a BBO cr...

Re: Generating Lift.

This would be pretty awesome to try. It is the closest you can get to Icarus . Adding some sort of leg driven propeller/main wing would make it somewhat more suitable for outdoor use. You'll probably still need a motor though, to compensate for the heating and cooling of the balloon, to go up and s...

You could give Adanaxis a shot. It's found here . Too bad if you have windows or mac, then it's just a demo for you (unless you pay), for those on open source there is a full free version (though stripped of "commercial audio and video effects"). It's a fun space sort of shooter in which y...

Careful here with the "considered sexist" thing. No, the bible is sexist (along with 90% of everything else). This is by an absolute value of "sexist": being treated differently based on the content of one's pants (where ones contents don't affect the needed treatment e.g. men d...

Also see Intent! It’s Fucking Magic! Heh. I guess you can put it that way. There however might be a slight difference between a racist joke, that was made up last week as knowingly racist and a ~2000 year old text that in current times will be considered sexist. I think that history in this case should be treated like scientific test results. There are many things that can be learned from history, mainly in respect to the behavior of groups, sociology if you like. Treating it this way however implies as well that these "experiments" and "data...

22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. And there are plenty of others....

I am wondering here if you couldn't use carbon nanotube material to replace another part of this assembly. The Hook. You might know these alcohol based "no water needed" soaps/desinfectants. If you wash your hands with it and it it gives you a cool sensation as the evaporation of the alcohol draws heat from your hands.

For a nice "prank" shock you could best use one of those electrical flyswatters. They give a good shock but are in no way lethal. The capacitor in them should fit in a pen nicely, although you will need to fancy some sort of external charging device out of the rest of the swatter. By my la...

I learned that driving a car on nice, flat, straight and asphalted road at 80 Km/H is actually *a lot* harder than driving on a winding, holed sand track at 30 Km/H. Oh, and also that being of legal age doesnt feel different than being 17 years old.

However, I'm rather skeptical that the "genes first" method actually works better than an organismal approach would. Sure, it's all math-y and provable and suchlike, but IMHO there's a real powerful, visceral impact to phenotypic changes in organisms over time. It's got a story, and real,...

I can imagine why you face resistance trying to set up an atheïsts club. A Christian club would probably do things like Bible readings, gospel singi...

The best definition of true Utopia I've heard/read up untill now is in an old dutch rhyme: Daar alleen kan liefde wonen, Daar alleen is 't leven goed, Waar men vrij en ongedwongen, Alles voor elkander doet.
