They're basically just different connectors. What you can do is buy an RCA(Tulip) cable(Make sure the cable is quite thick!) and cut one end off and strip it so that both leads lay bare. Put the end with the plug in the sub and put the other end(The bare leads) in the amp, the polarity doesn't matte...

You can get an Arduino Duemilanove(Old, since there's the Uno now) on eBay for 15 dollars. Sure, it's made in Hong Kong, not Italy, but the quality doesn't differ from 'official' builds. I use one of these and have never had problems.

I sometimes do make chiptunes using VST plugins and a MIDI controller through Cantabile or Cubase, however, I do sometimes use a tracker(Madtracker) or GuitarPro(as sequencer).

I do a lot of experimenting :P

VST plugins that I recommend for this are VSTs that emulate old Commodore64 soundchips.
