Re: "Period Speech" discussion (#771)

I'm surprised it wasn't "Forsooth, dost thou grokketh my jive, me hearties?" I was just thinking earlier about how when people try to use -est and -eth they tend to do so wrongly, and wondering if something similar might not happen in the future with -s, if English eventually loses its inf...

That would be 33% more cereal than a box of cereal that has 25% less cereal, actually.

Seen in a local 'free classifieds' flyer/booklet thing often seen on a rack near more reputable newspapers: An ad for a woman who, among other things, plans "batchleret parties". I honestly don't think I could misspell a word that badly if I tried . I guess you really do get what you pay ...

Reminds me of what Steven Wright once said: When I turned two I was really anxious, because I'd doubled my age in a year. I thought, if this keeps up, by the time I'm six I'll be ninety. But 32 ≠ 90. I liked this comic, because I do this too (jokingly, of course). Then when the third data point is ...

I hear words, but I've never noticed a voice, so it's probably an idealized version of my own voice.
