It's hard to say how much heat such a ship would put out. Perhaps a ship could be specifically engineered to be heat-neutral? Nitrogen is really awesome with all sorts of uses in amateur rocket making~

Don't forget little things like tapering the nozzle of your rocket by epoxy-ing an o-ring in there. Should give you a little extra oomph
