Ten Songs

Basically, the premise of this thread is to pick a ten track compilation of any band/musician. It does not have to be favourite tracks (although that is fine). It just needs to be a decent 10 track collection with the order they run in. Imagine you are trying to convince someone how good that band i...

Re: Philip K. Dick's crazy side

Which volumes do you own? You can easily order all the others off the internet. They've just been slightly different based on UK/US and have had different titles.

Something that I can use a keyboard on

I'm sorry the title isn't very descriptive. Anyway, I'm looking for something that either has a built in keyboard or I can connect a keyboard to it for taking notes in class. It should (preferably) be cheap and I need to be able to transfer the notes to an actual computer. It can be old. Any ideas?

Re: Underestimation of Technological Understanding?

My class in sixth grade taught me how to double click.. after 5 years of competent computer classes at the same school. In fact, my teacher was so stupid that she thought unplugging everything from the back of the computer was the same thing as taking a computer apart.

Re: Modern "Prog-Rock"?

Even though I'm not a huge Prog-Rock buff, I must say Porcupine Tree is one of my favorite bands. All three phases they've went through were very much amazing, and I'm just posting to reassure more people check them out that that maybe they woulc make more CDs. I need them all. I only ever really l...

Re: Teachers that cannot teach

1) Eighth Grade Spanish was taught to us once a week out of photocopied packets with "Learning Spanish -- 3rd Grade" on the bottom. The teacher didn't even speak any. 2) Ninth Grade Latin, Tenth Grade History are taught to me by a crazy Hungarian guy who yells at people for arbitrary reaso...

Careers after studying linguistics?

I am a sophomore in high school, and I find linguistics very interesting. I was wondering what careers people with linguistics degrees have.

All this talk about trying to make memes makes me feel quite ablexxive. They aren't made. They are spawned out of deranged minds in the middle of the night!

Re: Philip K. Dick's crazy side

I love Philip K. Dick because he is so fucked up. Normal stuff gets boring after a while, and it's great to read a book where the entire structure of reality dissolves. My favorite novels of his are Radio Free Albemuth , Eye in the Sky , The Simulacra , A Maze of Death , and The Three Stigmata of Pa...

My local library sells off a lot of used library books cheap. If your library sells them, chances are you'll find something worth reading.

I thought Anthem was pretty good. A lot of the other books I had to read were far worse.
