Re: IMPLOSIONS WHOOHOO!!

Set up a fake terrorist training camp, and when you send them on their suicide mission, rig them up to implode rather than explode. Not only will it be highly amusing to see terrorists collapse inside themselves, it saves lives! implosions DO save lives! indeed, if good ol' W. had imploded instead ...

IMPLOSIONS WHOOHOO!!

ah! hello there, I see you might one of great potential in this thread! So, basically, i'm doing a sort of "call to arms" to all you genius' out there. I don't know if it's just me, but implosions are just the coolest thing ever!! I want to know what kinds of crazy scenarios you guys can c...

Re: Buttered Cat Paradox

Cats don't always land on their feet. They have quick reflexes that help with that, but its possible for them to land on they backs. Also if the cat lands on its feet the toast has not technically landed, therefore the toast is not landing butter side down. i think i speak for all contribuers of th...

Re: Buttered Cat Paradox

what if the force pushing the buttered side down, and the one pushing the cats feet down, are both soooo strong they cause the cat/toast system to implode. That would create a black hole. killing us all.... putting Schroedinger back into this, if there's a 50% chance i drop that cat, then aren't we...

Re: Time Paradox

Well, that's one way around the paradox, but what do you mean, altering the past "in a non-paradoxal way"? As soon as a time traveller causes things to happen in a different way to the time traveller's own past, then you either have timeline bifurcation (aka "multiverse") or par...

Re: Time Paradox

the only time machine that isnt paradoxal... isn't exactly a time machine. I think it would be a sort of information transmitted through light (or some sort of particle that moves faster than light, therefore could dilate time in a negative manner...) and a receiver. So you could receive certain inf...

Re: Time Paradox

come to think about it... with all these flaws we find in the possible existence of a time machine, one used to go back in time, it is normal to think that it would be impossible to build one. But lets say we would one day successfully build a computer powerfull enough to process all the data in wor...

Re: Something thats always confused me about "The 4th Dimension"

If you'd like a nice introduction to the 4th geometrical/mathematical dimension, i think that Carl Sagan is the one that has summed it up best for now.

Re: Time Paradox

i love this thread. say you go back in time and decide to kill the "past-you" you would die and therefore not be able to kill yourself in the future and therefore not be dead and therefore you'd be to kill yourself in the future... etc. etc. etc. do you turn into a buttered cat and implode...

Re: Assumptions and Reality

yes, i agree with you a 100% but thats the conventionnal way to look at it.... so let me play the devils advocate. the logic we use, the arithmetic we invented based on that logic, the laws of physics that describe our universe based on that arithmetic... lets say the tower of pisa isn't crooked (as...

Assumptions and Reality

Since Heisenberg, many have been brought to think of the question of uncertainty . Not necessarily in terms of electrons, entanglement, spin, etc. But mostly in Logic (well, at least it would be what i'd like to discuss in this thread) Here's an example of what is now considered to be "normal&q...
