Re: 1190: "Time"

Molpy alert in the bush on the right. Woohoo, called it! I'm betting the hedgehog, with Lucky an outside chance. ...or possibly Lucky pursuing the hedgehog, given Lucky's ill-fated choices on who to try to eat. Then probably a loop or freeze-screen, or maybe a switch back to the first frame. A fade...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Hmm, any bets on the number of frames we get of waves before it starts looping/freezes? I feel like there's still time for an after-credits bit with the hedgehog or Lucky. Or maybe the raft will just gently lift on the oncoming waves until the screen goes black.

Re: 1190: "Time"

I made an overlay of the Beaniemap with a bathymetric map of the Mediterranean. Might be helpful in figuring out where they are. There's a significant chance they're in that temporary plain up in the northwest. I'm aware that the coastline doesn't line up as well as it could, but the suboceanic mou...

I can't find an orientation, neither heretical (current-day) nor mid-axial-precession cycle, that stacks Mirphak almost directly "above" Capella over the horizon, and the Pleiades "north" of Aldeberan w.r.t. the horizon, unless I alter the time from April 10, 13291, by about 6 m...

They didn't leave anyone on watch, which seems potentially a bad idea. I'd want a couple of people front and back keeping an eye on debris that might foul them and being ready to fend it off with sticks.

Re: 1190: "Time"

In terms of water, remember they have the "steambottles" (presumably some form of solar still), which Megan and Cueball seemed confident would provide enough water for them if they had to resort to them. I doubt they took the only one in the camp with them on the trip, and the 40 apparentl...

Re: 1190: "Time"

That they are speeding up is a good thing. A tsunami starts with water that pulls back, so if there was a tsunami coming from behind then they would float backwards. Unless a tsunami like wave caused by so much extra water behaves differently from tsunamis caused by the movement of rock (which does...

Re: 1190: "Time"

I'm pretty sure they are just going to ride the rising sea front upwards along the path of the river. They are already at this front. They are unlikely to have propulsion to leave the sea front behind. We don't know where this river goes, however. We do know more about the Big River (Rhone) and tha...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Does anyone know what the deal is with the water being "too fresh to swim over"? I know that salt water makes you a little more buoyant than fresh water, but it'd take a pretty extreme amount of salt to make the difference between you being able to swim or not. And most wood floats in wat...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Actually, they're in a riverbed, which I imagine is exactly the kind of thing that would focus a tide or surge. It's a very sprawling one, though, given it's an intermittent river. It'd be like trying to focus water with the mouth of the Colorado River. You need things like the Bay of Fundy with hi...

Re: 1190: "Time"

It would certainly feel narratively correct for La Petite to sail up in a raft, which she had built from the sandcastle structure and whatever she was dragging into frame when we last saw her.

There isn't going to be a tsunami; sloshing guy doesn't know his hydrodynamics. There coul...

My prediction: This is another jump-cut, like the one with the bucket. We will cut to LaPetite with a raft. Didn't someone point out very well while rafts most likely aren't made by the Cuganites or the Beanies? No, they make rafts -- Megan and Cueball discussed making one to cross the river, and s...

That ... sounds like a prefix for Megan losing her footing. The one good thing is that the current will sweep her and the bag towards shallower waters, rather than suck her out deeper, so she should be able to recover her footing. Hopefully she won't lose the bag with the maps, though.

Different mechanism, though, those were glacial dams. Gibraltar is very narrow compared to the drainage basin, and it can't get much wider due to mountain ranges on either side. The sediment will quickly be scoured out, obviously, but after that it's bedrock. It won't get much bigger than it is, and...

Speaking of the moon... I know that everyone has mostly settled on that one date in 13000, and Venus and Jupiter do match, but according to Stellarium there would also be a full moon, which would not appear in the field of view, but should have showed up in the environment not being so pitch dark. Huh, I did a find in FAQ and didn't get that.

Is there a list anywhere of problem words? I've tried about a score of times, changing any word I can think of that could be in any way possible a prescription drug or the like, and no good. It's extremely frustrating.

I can't reply to people or send them messages -- I get a "This message was flagged as spam and has been denied." message. I looked at the FAQ and didn't see anything, is there something I've missed where I need to do something special to reply to people, or are there words that will cause ...
