Re: Should I take French? (class)

In Canadian schools you can take French immersion, which is what I did. Tell me about it. How many lessons/week? Are other subjects taught in French then? Did it work for you? Why do they teach France French and not Canadian French in Canada? It starts in grade 1. They gradually ease you into Frenc...

Re: California may legalize pot, for the tax revenue

Or, you could encourage ingested pot over smoked pot. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it a lot better(i.e less carcinogens and all that) to eat pot-laced brownies than to put it in your pipe and smoke it? Less effective though (I think). I know you can also use a vapouriser, which I suppose would...

I... don't cook.

I burn my tongue a lot by eating microwaved food without letting it cool though.

Re: Video Shows Sheriff's Deputy's Alleged Assault on Girl, 15

I have viewed this video multiple times with the utmost attention to detail. After taking in all of the facts, seeing the angle the "strikes" were made at, and seeing the belligerent demeanor of the the female criminal it is clear that this was an act of self defense. In the beginning of ...

Re: Should I take French? (class)

In Canadian schools you can take French immersion, which is what I did. However, they teach France French and when I was confronted with a Quebec French speaker, I really had little idea what he was saying. I just want to say that Quebec and France French are very different. Anyway, I think you shou...

Dani: It's not that you shouldn't have said anything , I just wish you'd thought your position through a bit better. There's nothing wrong with disliking drugs as a personal preference, and it's understandable that your experiences have coloured you towards them, but the "are you so weak"...

Re: Video Shows Sheriff's Deputy's Alleged Assault on Girl, 15

I really wonder about people sometimes. What was going on in that cops head? Oh, a shoe hit me. That barely hurt. I think I shall beat the crap out of this little girl.

Seriously, what mind process is there? Aren't there psychological tests you need to take before becoming a cop?

Re: Computer Scientists

Right now I'm doing a java course where they force you to use notepad (obviously not really, it's a distance ed class, they can't control what you do). I think using notepad is good for learning. Although tedious, it's better than using an IDE as a crutch. I disagree. Notepad is seriously about the...

Re: EVE Online

I just ran out of my free trial a while ago. It was pretty fun, very different from WOW (which I didn't like, but my friends played it, so meh). It seems EVE is more of a thinking game and more realistic. In WOW, time + some skill = power, in EVE money + skill = power. I like this better. There is a...

Re: California may legalize pot, for the tax revenue

I apologize, I shouldn't have really said anything. I'm biased due to some experiences and after further thought and reading the above posts I've reconsidered my position. I just really hate drugs, but I really should keep that to myself. I suppose legalising pot would be fine. However, I'd hope tha...

Re: Best. Death. Ever.

Freud thinks everything remote phallic is a penis and that you love your mother. He should probably have studied SOMETHING that wasn't your mom. Everyone 'loved' her, and everything remotely phallic around/in her actually WAS a penis. Seems to have greatly skewed the results of his research. Touché...

Re: California may legalize pot, for the tax revenue

I'm probably going to be the only one against this, but I'd rather not see marijuana legalized. I know it wouldn't effect most people, but I do believe it is a transition drug. Most would not abuse it, but some would, and then they would want more, and then they would go for harder drugs. Yeah, tho...

Re: Hard work vs. Smartishness

I can relate. There is a girl at my school who works so hard it blows my mind. One year her term mark in math was 101%. Seriously. She did it thanks to bonus stuff obviously. Anyway, I have a lot of respect for her, even though she isn't very intelligent. however, she stays up until 2a.m. doing home...

Re: Human Rights Discussion

You set a good set of rules. People have to infringe on other people though. That's just life, it's unstoppable. Like freedom of speech. I can say things that the person next to me might not like, but just because they don't like it doesn't mean I can't say it.

Reminds me of the House episode where the man's niceness was a symptom of being sick. I agree that if you did it, you have to pay the price. I remember reading about a certain gene or set of genes that made someone reckless. People could say that since they had that/those genes they couldn't help th...

Re: Beware: Radioactive Escaped Paedophile

Right. So, if the level of radiation isn't lethal (and, as the term LD50 demonstrates, lethality isn't a binary value), can't the radiation still be harmful to the arresting officers? Yes, it could increase their risk of cancer, I believe, but obviously it won't cause them any immediate physical ha...
