Re: Syllabus for learning advanced mathematics and physics for a highschool student.

Introductions to Python can be found all over the web, really. You could of course use the official tutorial . Alternatively something like https://www.learnpython.org/ will let you jump right in, and it even embeds an interpreter on its pages so you can play with it as you read. If you have no prio...

Re: Syllabus for learning advanced mathematics and physics for a highschool student.

David Griffiths has excellent introductory textbooks on electrodynamics, quantum mechanics and particle physics; those are definitely worth checking out. Lagrangian formalism and the variational principle are eventually going to be the go-to tools for any new problem, so it's definitely a good idea ...

Well, yeah. Unfortunately it only takes one counter-protester stepping out of line to make every racist, xenophobe and alt-right adherent feel validated. They're hoping to get an excuse to start a full-blown race war, and I fear it's just a matter of time before they succeed.

I was in Luxembourg a few years ago, and one of the main things I recall is that public transportation was dirt-cheap. Re: Updating an old smartphone with a custom Android ROM?

AFAIK you need something like Titanium Backup if you want to restore all of your data after a ROM change, but that requires root. Some individual apps may back up their data to Drive in a way that allows you to restore it from a newer OS later, but I don't think that holds for all apps. The good thi...

Re: Updating an old smartphone with a custom Android ROM?

Planned obsolescence is pretty much the only reason they stop supporting old phones. You definitely shouldn't trust any arbitrary ROM, but the popular ones on xda-developers are usually OK. Personally, I've been running LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1) on my HTC One m7 for a good while now, and it's a n...

↶ Also, the article is wrong when it states "The language of algebra is symmetric: If x tells us about y , then y tells us about x ." Yes, it sort-of does, but not fully. If y = x 2 , then x tells you y , but y is fuzzier about x . That's what I was thinking. The equality statement is sym...

Going by what I've read, if you're already comfortable with CMake, there's basically zero reason to switch to anything else. As others have said, the main security methods don't take up a whole lot of bandwidth; there's a much bigger overhead from reliability measures than from security measures. There's not going to be an order-of-magnitude difference, in any case. On the other hand, it is worth considering how much time...
