Re: 1049: "Bookshelf"

Ayn Rand? What an idiot! I'm glad we ignored her advice. Don't you know that it's demand that drives the economy, not production? Bah! These Randroids would try and say that Obama's WORSTENING the crisis by bailing out the bankers! I'm with IceBrain on this; my only beef with the left, is that they'...

Re: "Children's Fantasy" Discussion
I was going to become a scientist, but that seems silly now.
Eliezer Yudkowsky wrote about this recently in his critique of Fantasy (note that he also write Fantasy). He argued that the people who think "Ho, hum, science is just so boring ." Would be just as bored b...

Re: Thoughts on the Tea Parties?

Re: R18+ Games finally coming to Australia?

This is one of the things that really confuses me about Australia. From everything I understand (as a fellow resident of the Commonwealth) your country is in no way a savage cultural backwater - but yet these bans and censorship continue. What's going on over there? Can any Australians offer insight...

Re: "Borders" Discussion

Finally, a comic that demanded I register. Maybe I'm (also) reading way too much into it, but this comic seems to perfectly highlight a disagreement I've been trying to articulate with the Rationalist/Singularity community: namely that a peaceful, suffering free transhumanist society, where nobody e...
