The way Marvel movies are made Thor would be throwing in the trowel often. Some puns cannot be ignored.

Re: 2088: "Schwarzschild's Cat"

This would also explain the lost time spent with kittens. What seems like a few minutes is really a few hours: time dialation. :D

Re: 1530: "Keyboard Mash"

I was not expecting to be talking about keyboard layouts in a discussion about a giant spider impersonating human-ness over the Internet. Really what this thread should be doing is trying to set up the logical need. A Shelob test, its like a turning test, but to check for giant carnivorous spiders ...

Re: 1496: “Art Project”

The ONLY way #4 can be art is if the burrito is observed fully through the process. Real time tracking by ultrasound or MRI might be interesting as well. The presentation would not even be finished after the swirling motion in the toilet bowl. Chase it down the pipes! Find out how it disintegrates a...

Narwhal, a guided, self-propelled space-harpoon. The whalers of the moon must be great defenders.

Re: 1381: "Margin"

Pretending to take the comic seriously for a moment... Secondly, it'll take an absurdly long time to extract even a tiny amount of information this way. You don't want to have to dedicate the resources of a million supercomputers for a billion years just to decode a 30-second MP3 file. Would this n...

Re: What-If 0090: "Great Tree, Great Axe"

I don't believe chopping down a tree with a crossbow is effective. That would be an interesting what if on it's own. It is obviously impractical to chop down a tree with crossbow bolts, but is it possible or would you end up reinforcing the tree more than damaging it after a certain point? Your tac...

Re: What-If 0090: "Great Tree, Great Axe"

I think fire axes are much more of a US thing - I don't recall ever seeing one in the UK, although they may exist. So while I suspect 5:1 to 50:1 is true in the US, I reckon much higher in some other parts of the world. For example, I'm in a city right now of, say, 100,000 people, and the only axes...

Re: 1347: "t Distribution"

Huh. As a teacher, I looked at it and went "Yep, that's about how grades look" You have the big spike of "Didn't even try" on the left, with a decent spike of "Have been bugging me for weeks about every detail" on the right. You have a smattering of people who did bare...
