Re: Portal 2

Some places in co-op that can be done slightly differently to the 'normal' way: In a room where you were meant to cover two walls in repulsion gel and bounce back and forth, I think I just jumped all the way up. There's the hard light room with the 5 portal achievement (chamber 3) with s...

Re: Regexp to replace numbers outside of quotes

I don't know if it could be converted to sed, since it uses \G and look-aheads and such... also, sed by default reads through line by line, and this needs to be run across the entire file in one hit (otherwise triple-quotes are impossible to handle). sed actually has a fair amount of features that ...

Re: Manufactoria - Make Turing Machines with Conveyor Belts

Sorry for posting an incorrect solution earlier. The G/Y branch was meant to be a square higher (directly below the R/B), so that after going through the middle section the yellow would put it back into the loop. An updated solution that should hopefully be correct this time. B/Rs are more numerous ...

A simpler (less error-prone) approach would be to differentiate it twice.

Re: Accuracy and Precision in Mathematica

As far as I know, having a decimal point will make Mathematica stop using exact values (assumption made from Wolfram Alpha and my TI-89). Compare, for example, sin(pi/10) and sin(pi*0.1) on Wolfram Alpha.

Re: Balls and bags.

Yes you can: For example take one of each possibility (bold = dropped): W W W W W B W B B W B W B B B B - you then get W W W W B W W B following the rules, of which half have the second as white (the assumption that the dropped ball is random is due to the dropping being accidental) ...
