Physicists - Not all that

Why my fellow physicists think they know everything (and why they're wrong) Part of the problem comes from the idea that physicists and engineers do "hard science" while everyone else does, well, "easy science." We are told that physics is the core science and everything else is...

And then there's Dune where the ships don't move at all as space is somehow warped around them. A similar idea in the movie Event Horizon, but with less woo and spice. Maybe Deepak Chopra can invent us a quantum vibration motor?

*For example, I know for sure that I want the acceleration to be at least as good as the Malibu I drive now, but I don't know if that means I need a V6/V8, or if it's possible to get comparable performance from a V4. I'm in Austin too. We could drag race and see if my Yaris meets your need for speed!

Steamed Salmon is Good to Eat

So...the doctor says I need to eat more fish with the right kind of fatty acids, like Salmon. I usually just microwave Tilapia fillets, but when I pay $6+ for a piece of Salmon, the microwave seems like an insult to the fish. And, the Salmon cut has a form factor that doesn't work well in an electri...

I think the main reason this case got so much attention is because of that endearing picture of the little victim, Caylee. It was perfect for media distribution and the drumming up of emotions. There are thousands of similar cases going on all the time, but without a good hook into the story, they g...

I detect a fatal flaw in the anchovie distribution network. They mostly come in a flat oblong shaped tin with a pull ring on the top to pull open the top. There is almost no way to open said tin without getting oil all over your hands. The person who develops a better anchovie tin will have millions...

Unless you live in a house with a yard and a dog door to the outside, don't get a dog at all.

Intentionally 'breaking' a site for IE6 won't force anybody to do anything. Chase Bank and the State of Texas (among others) are still using IE6 because of legacy software that depends on it. They don't care if their employees can't see your site because that's most likely a feature rather than a bug.

I think it shows that the people who chose to reject the overwhelming majority viewpoint on religion did so by first doing a little research to confirm their suspicions that what they rejected was, well, rejectable.
