Re: obama endorses same-sex marriage

Wow, as someone from the UK I'm actually impressed, it's easy to get the impression from over here that fundamental religious lobbying groups basicly run US politics.

how big a deal is the gay marriage thing over there? do people really care or is it just a media thing?

Re: strange triggers for depressive states

you are not the only one,
I tend to avoid all strong emotion as being happy just makes me think how much worse it will be when I do crash back down.
I realise this is not a healthy way to live.

I havn't seen the ad but is that similar to sliding backwards on an icy hill and spinning the wheels to go forwards? I'm sure I've done that before.

Re: Rush Limburger calls Student 'Slut', Backlash

Apologies for off topic but 3000 dollars! Surely that can't be right. If insurance companies are reallypaying that for normal BC pills then US health care is going wrong somewhere.
Is this a special medical requirement rather than normal BC? If so this sounds like what insurance is there for.

Re: Black light from Camera Flash

Have you already modded the camera for uv? It should be easy to test if you can get hold of a speedlight. Are you thinking of just uv coming through or visible light plus uv? I'm assuming digital camera, I think the Fuji 5900 series is a fairly easy mod for visible plus uv and it has a hotshoe, quit...

as to tech not working at hogwarts typewriters are a good idea but they were still using quills and ink on scrolls! surely a Biro or a nice fountain pen would be fine, it's not that high tech. would a machine to make a4 paper be too complicated? In a world with radios anything up to that tech level ...

So what should happen is when you shut off the warp drive/ collapse the warp field /stop bending space time around the ship , what ever, You emerge at lthe speed of light and coast down to a stop untill something slows you down. I thought moving the space the ship was in was meant to get rid of the ...

I know the movie where the spaceship stops when the engine shuts off, it's john carpenters Dark Star This is a science Win not a science Fail as the drive they use moves the space around them not the ship it's self. Everyone else has it wrong! Why a warp drive would leave you rolling gently along at...

One of my motorbike tyres once got hot enough to explode, probably because it was a bit low on pressure and i'd just pulled off a motorway.
I would pay for something that stopped that happening again if it really worked.
Even making it a bit less likley to happen would be worth a couple of quid.

The 3 sliders are , I believe, something to do with colour balence. I seem to recall it being hard to get them back to the correct positions if you change them. Often they had hot wax dripped on them so they can't move by mistake.

Awesome project by the way.

they use it on some electric bikes too so it must be possable even with a simple drive system, I personaly wouldn't bother. real brakes are better and the power saved is fairly tiny for the extra complexity you would have to build in. you could sieze the freewheel and do it that way but then you can...

Hi, balance should be easy on that one but 120watt is not that much power. I have one by them and weigh too much for it, by quite a lot, which drains the batts fast. I can't believe it's designed for kids as it is sereiously heavy, lead acid batts always are. I'd make one, bolt the back of a 300watt...
