The idea of our being brains is sort of interesting. It's different from Descartes' idea that we're essentially minds. I doubt most of us think of ourselves as brains inside meat vehicles, but in the age of the fMRI and rapid advances in neuroscience I wonder whether that attitude could change.

I spent my first three semesters vacillating between Physics and English, and wound up in Philosophy. Philosophy's a good "general knowledge" subject, seeing as you can integrate absolutely anything you want (and are able to establish the philosophical interest of) into it.

Obviously the people complaining about this comic haven't read e.e. cummings.

I tend to automatically scan ahead a couple lines to scout out where the parenthetical interjection ends. It's a good idea to have a rough lay of the land when maneuvering tricky syntax.
