Re: Nerds In MMA
From what I could see I think Rousey expected a quick and easy win, and when it didn't come, she got frustrated, didn't have a real gameplan, and pretty much played into Holm's hand.

Re: Escape the Frictionless Circle
Will this work? (assuming you're very strong, being in perfect health and all) 1. Pick up block, drop it on opposite side from where you picked it up from. 2. Climb over block. 3. Repeat 1 and 2. 4. Win. Would picking up the block and moving it through the vacuum to the other side cause your feet to...

Re: Running is bad?
Having a higher muscle mass increases you base metabolic rate. When you're not exercising. When running a mile a fat person will probably burn more calories.

Re: Running is bad?
If you consistently train for and run half marathons and marathons it's understandable that you would have trouble putting on muscle mass. If you are serious about building muscle you might have to sacrifice long distance running, and do short sprints for cardio (something like 1/4 mile or less). Al...

Containing a nuclear explosion.
If you had to build a structure that fully contained a large nuclear explosion, say 50 megaton, how big would it have to be? Lets say you have a steel spherical shell with the inside just big enough to fit the bomb, what would the wall thickness have to be? Would any other materials or combination o...

I second the good form on the back squat. Don't worry about the weight being low, most guys squatting 300+ don't even go halfway down.

Re: The Blindfolded Poem and the Left Arrow Key
It's not a true story. In real life, my friend pressed the "g" key while my eyes were closed. So, it was pretty easy to figure out the original text. Later, I thought up the left arrow key idea, and decided to make it into this puzzle. Your friend must be some sort of ninja, I'd imagine i...

Re: Making progress...
Very good advice. If you want to lose weight, you can't out exercise a bad diet. The best place to start is to cut back on your sugar intake. If you can't cut it out completely, try to keep track of how much you eat, and gradually reduce it from there. Make a habit of reading the ingredients list, y...

Re: Weight lifting diet
I think it should be 1g of protein per lb of lean body weight, not total body weight. So at 190 lbs - 17% bf, 155g is about right.
I'm 5' 9", 190 lbs, bf around 15%, I do lifting and running. myfitnesspal is a good website to help you keep track of everything.

I once did 6 hours on, 6 hours off for about 4 months straight in the navy. Also did 8 hours on, 8 hours off for maybe a month. After not seeing the sun for a while you sort of lose the concept of "day" and "night".

Challenge assumptions:
-you are a human and you are alive: check for heartbeat, attempt to stop breathing, attempt to smash head into a wall as hear as you can.
-check if you feel hungry
-attempt to urinate (could be useful to mark rooms)
