Re: 2131: “Emojidome”

Left emoji have an unfair advantage. Also, the votes from people from less populated areas should be given more weight. Otherwise they will not be able to impose their values on everyone else.

The comic needs an option for "clever choice of a path in the complex plane"

Re: A World With Three Genders

@Nicias - yeah, I should have said sex and not gender. Sorry about that. As noted by doogly, though, it still has the same issues. The wiki link looks interesting. I will have to take a closer look. @morriswalters - Thank you! I will pass on the pointer, and I am sure she will appreciate it. @PeteP ...

Re: A World With Three Genders

It's worth noting there's a lot more than two genders in the real world, and have been recognized as such for thousands of years. Incidentally, there are also a lot more than two possible sets of genes, and a lot more than two versions of reproductive systems, and none of those things have to fit t...

Genetics in a species with three sex chromosomes

My daughter is in middle school and is an aspiring writer. I came home last night, and she was trying to think through what would happen in a society with three genders. So, we started thinking about the gender ratios and started tinkering with the Medelian genetics of the situation. So, we came up ...

It is a nice picture, but I think that he forgot to also include a gay bay.

Re: 0844: "Good Code"

I am generally pretty laid back with respect to xkcd and what [I think] Randal is trying to say. I have to say, though, this is the first time that he really cut this close to "home." And it hurts. *sobs* Now please excuse me, I am going to go curl up under my desk in the fetal position fo...

If were not for context this would have been a great comic.

Right in the middle of the bay of lag just out of sight of the coast of the isle of mmo's. Sadly, right where it should be. Another interesting idea destroyed by poor execution. I wonder if it will make it to the next iteration of this map????

Re: "University Website" discussion (#773)

The comic is true, but you can replace "university" with just about anything else you happen to be interested in at the moment. The apparent standard in "good web design" is to subdivide the content so that you have to crawl the entire site if you happen to be looking for more th...

Re: " One Two" Discussion

Nobody has pointed this out yet, but that TV has only three channels. (Or two if the first setting on the channel dial is "off.") I'd argue that the TV has many channels. Best of all, the volume is continuous. And the alt-text... nice troll. I had plenty of time as an undergrad. More than...

Another problem with a depth first search dating strategy is that when you move on you end up dating the friends and nearby nodes first. Is there a way to add simulated annealing to the search algorithm to make it increase the distance between nodes?

Re: "Southern Half" discussion (#753)

I am going to have to go with signal11 on this one. When JFK said "South" he clearly meant "East," and when he said "global" he clearly was referring to the null operation." Also, in terms of the comic how come Australia and Antarctica are not colored in? Maybe JFK...

Ihave to admint that it took me a while to get the pun. I just saw hertz and focused on the frequency. The really sad thing is that I initially thought that the number was off by a factor of 2*Pi.
