Re: "I don't want MY tax dollars to..."

... the government would simply be wise to underfund those areas in the 90% budget, allow people to choose, resulting in full funding and nothing would change. If you wanted to democratize the budget, actually voting with the money wouldn't be a good way to do it. Right off the bat it means some pe...

Re: Naming Your Possessions

Any heavy object with a number on it indicating its weight is named "cunt."

This was not intentional, I just found myself saying "Get up there, cunt! I've had enough of your heavy bullshit!" faily consistently while lifting.

"Auto Design" is a adequate PCB layout technique.

It's not. It's fucking really not and your layout package is an asshole.

Re: Windows 7

Okay, so my first gripe about Windows 7 has surfaced: The monitor brightness on my laptop can't be set as low as it once could. It's lilkely the fault of the Lenovo drivers, but it certainly is annoying and has a noticable impact on the machine's battery life. Also, you apparently can't turn off the...

Re: Tattoos? (Recently merged: "Nerdy Tattoo Idea")

We already know the Ankh to be a symbol of life, so perhaps a look into what we define as "life" would be appropriate. Again, if I may quote Robert Lawlor, In terms of Cognitive Psychology, if we tend to believe what we see, we also tend to a great degree see only what we have been taught ...

Re: Tattoos? (Recently merged: "Nerdy Tattoo Idea")

Ostrich feather...? This will help, though it's hardly a be-all end-all on this rich symbol: Consider, for example the feather, Maat's chief symbolic attribute. It has long been recognized that bird navigation is accomplished both by the bird's photo-sensitivity and its sensitivity to magnetic fiel...

Godspeed You Black Emperor's The Dead Flag Blues, at the 2:35 mark where the strings section slows down and the lyrics 'You grabbed my hand, and we fell into it, like a daydream, or a fever'... That song is the most devastating piece I have ever heard. You are cool. Post rock has a lot of "per...

Re: So, Any Of You Play The Guitar?

for some reason i've never found those guitars to be particularly attractive. Hmm I always considered the quilted maple tops to be basically the sex, but that's just me. What sort of guitars do ya'll like? I'm not a particular fan of quilted maple either. As a wood it just looks... unnatural. 'Can'...

Re: Childhood misconceptions

The concept of multiple user accounts on my Win98 machine was well beyond me. The only account we had was named after my dad, and I thought that pressing 'Log off 'Dad'' would kill him. This makes me smile. When I was but a wee lad, my mother would often take me with her to go to town and run erran...
