If I understand it right, last night was a "Supermoon".

Those tend to be very, very bright, and very visible when normally you wouldn't notice the moon.

Ah yes. The dimension hopping tavern is called the Shipping Container. The one where it all started (and is still plot-central) is The Seven Otters. It's the one the game is named after.

I had to go via a tavern which is in the process of getting kicked to pieces by a Frost Giant, so I didn't stay in it very long.
