Re: 請你說一點兒中文!(Chinese Practice)

Hi Halcyon Days! I too am a student although I have been studying for about 8 months, but it was only about 2 months ago that I became serious. I mainly study traditional. I'll do my best, but I cannot guarantee that any of this is right! (Unless I specifically say otherwise, in which case I have ch...

Re: 2010 AP tests discussion thread!

AP World History... 10,000 years of history, and I can get essays on anything. I'll be fine on multiple choice, but... essays are not my strong point in AP World, since they're about form and now content. :(

Re: Coolest Asian writing system

Well, I like the neatness of Korean because it's written in blocks. However, when it comes to looking the nicest, I like Traditional Chinese because each of the characters has a different meaning with radicals that kind of give hints to what the character means, as well as the origins (for example, ...

Re: Language practice threads [new: Korean]

I'm sort of new to the forum, but I've recently discovered my love of languages (not just programming, I mean). My mother tongue is English (American), but I am avidly learning Mandarin Chinese (Traditional, maybe I'll learn simplified later). I take French in school, but as some of you might know, ...

Re: New to python, invalid syntax errors

One thing you need to know about programming is that when you get a syntax error, the location given in the error message is often a line or two away from where the actual mistake is. In this case, the mistake is in the line before the one the error message refers to - look closely at the brackets....

Re: New to python, invalid syntax errors

Sorry, wasn't thinking about that. As my code is not complete yet, here is the portion where it screws everything up: def menu_options(): print("Encoder/Decoder for:") print("Shift(an+n mod b+c)") print("1. Encoder") print("2. Decoder") print("3. Quit&quo...

New to python, invalid syntax errors

Hi there, guys. I'm starting to get into programming, and I was reccomended the language of Python. I installed the official IDLE (3.1.1) from Python.org and started learning. I've learned quite a lot, but for some reason, it will give me invalid syntax errors on the weirdest things, like colons and...
