(...). No protein for breakfast or lunch at ALL and I doubt you're getting enough calories, either. There is protein in there: Almonds : 21 g of protein per 100 g serving Pasta : 3 g of protein per 100 g serving Rice : 2 - 4 g of protein per 100 g serving Spelt : 5 g of protein per 100 g serving Qu...

Re: Allergies, Weight Loss - I need help! Oh my.

Hey Sionnach, the hunger you feel is quite normal and it will pass after a few weeks, unless you keep bouncing back to eating milk-products. Your body is just adapting to the changed diet. I'm a vegan 6'6'' and roughly 175 lbs and here's what I eat: For breakfast (I get up between 8 and 9) usually s...

Re: Staying fit in in the winter.

Usually I get even fitter in the winter, since I exercise more often 1 . I do simple kettlebell drills like the swing, the get-up and the military press. Twice a week 12' swing, twice a week 5 - 10' get-up and if I don't feel like doing the get-up on these days I'll do the military press. Then there...

Re: Eating Correctly and Compound exercises.

What is the difference between strength and power? If I translate the two into German they end up almost completely synonymous :? Strength is the ability to exert force to do work, such as move a barbell. Power is the rate at which that work is performed, i.e. work per unit time. To train for power...

Re: Eating Correctly and Compound exercises.

I decided after making the thread just to go with normal starting strength I don't know what program you're doing but it's not starting strength. As I understand from reading, low rep weight training increases the size of the myofibrils in the muscle, whilst high rep training increases the amount o...

AC/DC - Black Ice (Tour and Album)

There doesn't seem to be a thread about AC/DC yet. They released a new album (Black Ice) last year and are currently on tour through the states. Black Ice turned out to be a great album, in spite of of their age, those guys pulled another nice piece of rock out of their hat. So I decided to go and s...

Re: Muscle cramping and how to prevent it?

In the spring of 2004 I started I started playing basketball on public courts here in Dresden and soon I spent whole afternoons on the court. Effective playing time was maybe around 2 to 3 hours, so really a lot. I had a lot of cramps back then and not just during the exertion itself (that happenes ...

Re: Trying to fill out

Also, not sure about how to count calories as the thing kinda confuses me. Should I go by how much it says in the total saturated fat section or where they go by calories in protein - carbs - fat ratio? Not sure. Thus, I am not aware if I am getting enough protein or if I am eating enough. Its a ch...

Re: Easy effective excercises

I enjoy doing pistols (one-legged squats) because they're demanding but not too difficult, relatively easy to master in the beginning and you can easily adjust the resistance as soon as you get better (e.g. by holding a barbell plate, a rock, your sister, etc. ... ;-)). Just make sure you keep your ...

Re: Getting fit tips for 14 year olds.

@ Walter Horvath If you can already do 300 crunches it’s high time to change the resistance. The best way is to switch to Janda Sit-Ups. Their primary advantage is that they almost isolate the abs, in contrast to the normal sit up, which utilizes the hip flexors, and the crunch, which, as your rep ...

Re: the 'Aw shucks, I screwed up' thread

I bought Enter the Kettlebell by Pavel and started doing the program minimum. After working on it for about two weeks I decided to try the Rite of Passage. I have thoroughly humbled myself and am back on the program minimum. Also because of said humbling I messed up my elbow and have now had an ext...

Re: Bianca attempts to stick with it

If you want a no compromise solution you should try the Kettlebell Swing. It will only take up 3 x 12' per week and will get you on the fast lane to your perfect weight. However, it's not as simple to use as a treadmill and takes some time to learn (i.e. practicing the skill, before actually working...

Re: Attempting to gain weight

I wouldn't recommend weight training with iron at that young age, but Jajapeno's advice on high tension bodyweight exercises is spot on. As your body hasn't finished growing yet you should be careful with using heavy actual weights (as in Barbells, Dumbells, Kettlebells, etc.). You may want to check...

Re: Headbands

Wow guys, don't overwork yourselves with useful advice! @ Jorpho: During the years I've been playing basketball I had several headbands and it when it came to picking the right one it was always just trial and error. My main problem was that after some time some of the headbands didn't sit tight eno...
