Re: Trump presidency

Well, one threat among many for sure, but I don't think you should understate this story. Being able to throw blatantly false (with video evidence!) attacks on journalists to deny their access to do their job and cover the government is pretty bad. Trump has done a lot worse, for sure, and those sto...

Re: Trump presidency

Yeah it's pretty pathetic. The white house correspondents accosiation has rebuked the white house in a statement. https://mobile.twitter.com/whca/status/1060357961359519745 In the past, the press corps show some solidarity against things like this. At one point in his presidency, the Obama administr...

Re: Trump presidency

During a press conference the day after the midterms, CNN white house correspondent Jim Acosta and Trump get into a slightly heated exchange. https://youtu.be/4BZ8ck_7cqk In response, jim acosta has his white house pass revoked. Supposedly, the reason is not the exchange or questions, but that he la...

Re: Trump presidency

He doesn't. At least he needn't. All this implies is that he believes that an amendment is sufficient , and in that, he's right. He may also believe that an executive order, backed by Trump loyalists, is also sufficient, but why not go for the big guns? Because the big guns require 15 Democrat sena...

Re: Trump presidency

Lindsey Graham plans to propose legislation that ends birthright citizenship to follow suit with trump's executive order. https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/413832-graham-to-introduce-legislation-ending-birthright-citizenship%3famp His legislation would apparently be ...

Re: Trump presidency

Yeah this seems like a major dogwhistle to a white nationalist base again, and I don't think there's anything stopping him from making the executive order. I don't think it will hold up in any of the courts (Although who knows with our current Supreme court). But even if he thinks he does, an execut...

Re: Trump presidency

Hey remember that administration memo redefining sex and gender? Now we get the pleasure of seeing it in action.

Re: Radical Feminism

I ask the latter. There is this talk of destroying gender, and that associating things with a gender is wrong and bigoted. I wonder why.

Perhaps people aren't saying that we shouldn't associate things with gender, but it sure SEEMS like it sometimes.

Re: Radical Feminism

That doesn't really answer my question. I'm not saying we should discourage people from doing the things that interest, and I hope I didn't imply that in any way in my last post. I thought I tried to make that clear when I said it was completely fine for men to enjoy clothes to. I'm not saying that ...

Re: Radical Feminism

I wonder how it is possible to entirely dissociate all traits with genders. I don't mean to say I am entirely opposed to the idea, although it is not the approach I would take (in my mind, being a women is OK, and doing anything you want as a women is ok. Being a proud women and then saying that the...

Re: Smart gun debuts, stupid people revolt

So I believe the argument is "Ok, so I can't use a cell phone jammer in my pocket. But it's not -impossible- to jam. I'll just use a noise generator on a truck." Only if we accept the premise that you need something large enough to require a generator on a truck, which is frankly a silly ...

Also, while the DOJ didn't write the report, they did fund the research before and after the report, so I think they like where the technology is going.

Re: Smart gun debuts, stupid people revolt

So I believe the argument is "Ok, so I can't use a cell phone jammer in my pocket. But it's not -impossible- to jam. I'll just use a noise generator on a truck." Which is ridiculous. How many criminals do you think are lugging that around? Barring the fact it is a couple thousand dollars ...

It's not hard to find. Google "Smart gun immune to jamming" It's the first result.

Re: Smart gun debuts, stupid people revolt

The point is that they are reliable. You can't disable them with a jammer. That argument won't get you anywhere, it is incorrect. That is an extraordinary claim. I know you are a new poster, so you can't post a link yet, but could you at least describe where you found the evidence for this? A repor...

Re: Smart gun debuts, stupid people revolt

If you can jam someone from firing a weapon on your property, then other people can jam your weapon when trying to use it for self defense. Not to mention that that is only a trustworthy precaution if everyone had smart guns. And if everyone has to have a smart gun, you need a smart gun, and if you ...

Re: Smart gun debuts, stupid people revolt

*ahem* You can't jam these guns. I know that is a bold claim, I will submit my evidence once I have five posts. But to jam these guns it would require an absurd amount of power you won't find in any standard cell phone jammer. It's pretty much impossible. If you can think about a problem with the te...
