### Re: The Goddess, the Villagers, and the Traveler

OK, I've got something that looks like a solution. Please pick holes in it :-) Yat is correct, the goddess can perfectly imitate a mundane villager. She is bound by no rules, nor can she lack knowledge. What's more, if she ever fails to act like a mundane villager, I can reveal my paper, point to ru...

### Re: Optimal Strategy for a new twist on Rock/Paper/Scissors

Well, the co-operative version sounds fairly easy. Your opponent wants to achieve their objective, so they get a prize. You want to help them, so you get a prize too. They know the objective, you don't. So, let them decide the result. Just throw "rock" every time. They will throw "pap...

### Re: Two more secrets

Yes, I realised that after I posted! If I ask about a subset containing only one number, you can just say "no" constantly because at least one of your numbers isn't in my subset. For subsets of two and above, you can follow the previously-described strategy to stop me getting down to the r...

### Re: Two more secrets

I don't see anything in the instructions about the size of subsets I'm allowed to ask about. So having found x, y, and z I can ask about the subset {x} - if you say "yes", x is a winning answer, if you say "no" then both y and z are winning answers.

### Re: Logic Puzzles - Admittedly, not naturally equipped to solve them...

Am I beginning to seeing a pattern here? Similarly to Sudoku, rather than looking for WHERE a number should go, I should focus on where it SHOULD NOT. Should my steps with logic thinking/puzzles in general be to always determine which paths or ideas are false, eliminating the false possibilities on...

### Re: Logic Puzzle - Scavenger Hunt

Well, that hint restates what Markus said. You have looked the frequency with which each letter occurs - two of the clues used. But the hint makes it clear that you need all three - you need to subtract. What you need to subtract, however, I have no idea.

### Re: word filter

OK, no replies for ages, so I think everyone's given up. Here's a much more blatant hint: You can ignore any non-letters, and any letters other than C, D, I, J, L, M, U, V, or X. They are not case sensitive, and the order of the letters in the word doesn't matter. Any word that doesn't conta...

### Re: Nonlinear warmer-colder.

Had the same idea but then 000001 should have been an extreme case. Also 777777 has more prime factors then 999999 and is colder. Unless it's weighted with the powers as well (having e.g. x>y -> 2x being wamer than 2y). However why is 401408 and 802816 the same temperature in that case? It can't si...

Has everyone given up on this? Here's a clearer hint - it won't give the whole thing away even if you completely get the hint. You need to know which letters count. You can ignore all the rest (along with any non-letters). You do know which letters count! You are probably expecting seven of ...

### Re: word filter

Got it, I think. Hint: It looks to me like the kind of words that pass are either early in the alphabet, or very long. Not a single word beginning with a,b,c or d has been rejected, and the only one to pass from the second half of the alphabet is ridiculously long. So the rule is: The length of the ...

No, I tried both negative and fractional numbers. Despite what it said, I got quite a few "no" answers as it seemed too simple and I was looking for a trick that wasn't there. I started off with the obvious choice of doubling: 1 2 4 Yes 500 1000 2000 Yes 0 0 0 No so not multiplication...
