Re: Thoughts for ships

As processors get faster, memory access speed gets relatively slower, due to the speed of light (and the physical distance between the CPU and RAM) staying constant. OK, so how do we increase the speed of light? Introduce it to Eastern European driving culture. Everyone here knows you don't get fin...

Get rid of the penny and the nickel. This. Both the penny and the nickle are worth less than the metal used to mint them. Arguments about how "rounding is bad" will be ignored, because we already do that at gas stations (9/10 of a cent?), and nobody is trying to change that. I've seen not...

It says "Open 24 Hours", not "Open 24 Hours a Day". That means the store gets 24 hours total operational time. Then they have to bulldoze it and start a new one. Reminds me of an old Michael Wright (?) joke where he shows up at some 24/7 convenience store and the door is locked....

Re: are morals relative or absolute?

I'm going to go with relative, because it is a human construct and changes a lot as a result. Different individuals or groups can have different ideas about what is and what isn't moral, even the same group's idea can change over time.

Re: 1825: "7 Eleven"

Saying "OPEN 24 HOURS" to advertise never closing always seemed weird to me. Such places usually call themselves "non-stop" or "éjjel-nappali" (~"night-and-day") here, which I find much more straighforward. Surely customers don't really care about how long the...

I'm not sure about what the scenario is based on that drawing: 1) Car is moving, wheels are locked up (not rotating) : the orientation of the wheels is irrelevant, using the equation F lat =F vert *μ kin is good enough to my knowledge. The downward force on each wheel depends on acceleration and suc...

For some reason the name "Discord' always makes me think it has to do with vinyl records, maybe because of the similarity to Discogs.com (which is an invaluable resource). Anyway, I might give it a try sometime, but it's late now.
