Re: Military coup attempt in Turkey? [coup fails] [skullcracking!]

Internarional observers have said that the referendum was not done on a level playing field, and was marred by a large police presence at polling stations and explicitly breaking the law by counting unstampted ballots. According to the document, many "no" campaigners were arrested and/or ...

Re: Military coup attempt in Turkey? [coup fails] [skullcracking!]

So, Turkey is having a referendum on wether or not to expand presidential powers today. A lot of people, including myself, see it as a move by Erdogan to consolidate further power (i.e. become more authoritarian). They are counting the vote now, but as it stands "yes" is winning by a slim ...

That sounds really great. I've never had any good gluten-free pizza or bread. I'm very glad I can eat gluten. It's amazing stuff and adds a nice texture. For me the main thing for using Vim is that I don't have to move my arm to cursor keys all the time while coding. It's not about speed, I just think it's easier for my arms because I don't have to hover them over the keyboard all the time. While coding I tend to move the cursor around a lot going b...

I'm stuck in 2010 with a smattering of 1995-2000. Emacs is better than vim by the way, though I like Notepad ++ too. I've never tried sublime, but you have to pay for it?! Screw that. I'm starting to re-read Ada right now. I finished it a week or so ago, and it is better now being re-read -- especially the first few chapters. Those can be hard to get through without reading them really carefully. It is a great book though, just in general. I really enjoy reading a few pages, than...

Actually, bananas are eaten pretty soon after being picked; cargo ships are much faster than they were back in the 1920's. It's surprisingly a problem for bananas, since they have to be treated with radiation so they turn yellow sooner. Radiation? That's new. When I was young, it was ethylene (or s...

Artificial banana I kinda like. That's because artificial banana actually tastes like banana; it's banana that doesn't taste like banana.
