Re: Police misbehavior thread

More and more, I'm thinking that police officers should stop being trained to reach for their gun first, and instead have the taser be the primary weapon, but fired about as often as they currently fire guns rather than being a 'when all you have is a hammer' sort of thing. I imagine the fear is th...

Re: The Darker Side of the News

Off Topic: oh...The performance on Saturday was phenomenal! The woman played ancient instruments. Her name is Lauren Pilon . She comes from the Mid-West of the U.S. I can find Nothing about her on the Google Machine. If any of you Can. I'd be grateful for a link. What she did was such Hard Work...

Re: In other news... (humorous news items)

Not the first time I've seen a system get hacked and thought "why the hell is that connected to the internet?!" The casino I work at has a lodge attached. The key makers are attached to computers which also do check-ins, because the employees make keys from the check-in software directly....

Re: Racism debate split from elections thread

I suspect a lot of people buried their head in the sand and pretended not to hear about Trump's awful personal life. For people who thought that Hillary was a warmonger, for people who thought she was the worst type of corrupt career politician, for people (like me) who forsaw her doubling down on a...

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

I still don't think I get the obsession with the right to bare arms; it seems like a lot of passion poured into what -- to me -- appears to be just a fun hobby. Maybe it's an identity thing? It's weird (for me) to think of guns as an integral part of one's identity -- even to the point of becoming ...

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

I completely understand someone who sees gun control as a serious issue. What I don't understand is how it could be a deal-breaker. Like, am I missing something? Guns are a hobby . You're allowed to be passionate about your hobbies; hell, you're allowed to make them central to who you are. But I su...

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

It's neat that you voted for a package that included rampant racism, bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, and homophobia because you're oh-so-afraid of a magical bogeyman that might come and take all your gunz. It's cool that you validated and emboldened the hate groups that were the engine of the Trump ...

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Long time lurker, figured I'd pipe up with my two cents. I voted Trump because of Clinton's stance on Gun Control. I am not interested in another AWB, or for our gun laws to move towards UK or Australia examples. Not a single other issue in this election affected me personally, at least short term. ...
