### Elementary probability

I'm studying for an exam and one of the practice questions is as follows: you're sending out mail and the probability is .4 that someone replies. How many letters do you need to send out so that you're reasonably certain at least 100 people will reply? It's about 292 according to my professors answe...

### Stats Question

So I'm really quite awful at probability. I have a homework problem (so i'm not asking for the answer, rather guidance on how to think about it) A professor has a 20 question true/false reading quiz he's giving to his students. He wants to choose the passing grade such that there is less than a .05 ...

Hey all, long time no see. So I'm a sophomore at Boston University studying business and I've recently taken a keen interest into quantitative finance. I like to trade on the side to make a little bit of money and to learn, and I've been wondering about this for a while. Basically, on any given day,...

I just learned I can't join the Peace Corps until after college... I wanted to do a 2 year gap year serving in the PC. (I know 18 is the minimum age, but you need like 5 years in work if you want to apply before college, and it's too late for that.)

Critique of things that don't matter much. 1. (z^2)/4 = (1/2)xy 2. Z^2 = 2xy (multiply both sides by 4) Don't change case of variables.
