Re: Sources for Terrorism Beliefs

The biggest misconception is that the terrorists usually come from religious backgrounds. While the people at the top often do and the ideology of the groups are steeped in religion and the Salafis have a lot to answer for, the suicide bombers themselves actually aren't that religious. What they ar...

Re: X Universe

I honestly think Rebirth was a fumble in the right direction. I glad that we finally got systems that feel organic, sort of. They just removed the best features of X3 in order to do it. I.e., the ability to pilot any ship. I liked the idea of walking around stations, but it was horribly implemented ...

The old formula works only because no one else has been able to do it. X3:AP did it almost right; there is still that damned taxi mission bug where the script doesn't delete the mission after being offered, so the game comes to a lagging halt after 2 days of gameplay. X rebirth at this point just ne...

Couple of things. Got X rebirth. Don't get unless on sale and with all addons, even in version 4 it's still practically in beta, but it's actually quite fun. Hold off a bit until 4.1 is released though. So it was never meant to be X4, more of a minigame. Which is sad. You only get the one ship, it's...

If California seceded, do you think for five seconds the US would respect Apple's patent on a rectangle with rounded edges? The big argument for secession is that some regions are being heavily taxed to subsidize the others. California will bitch that they pay so much in tax to support the others, but are silent when it's pointed out that all their wealth comes from selling fruits, tech and movies/tv to the other states ...

I think carnivore meat not tasting good would have an evolutionary advantage; more likely to have tapeworms and such.

As for livestock, mad cow disease only spread because diseased cows were fed to other cows, so I'd imagine that pigs get an occasional meat waste product in their diet too.

Oh, and we can emotionally relate to cats and dogs. Supposedly.

China eats dogs in a few isolated locations. Sort of like eating rabbit or gator in the US. It's only abhorrent to us because dogs are traditionally pets and pigs are traditionally food, so it's a classic example of cultural relativism. However, the saving grace for dogs is that they hunted and foug...

Actually, bananas are eaten pretty soon after being picked; cargo ships are much faster than they were back in the 1920's. It's surprisingly a problem for bananas, since they have to be treated with radiation so they turn yellow sooner.
