Well, the chimp is much less likely to rip your limbs off in a fight. Your chance of winning that fight is still not good, but better than against a gorilla.

Re: The Darker Side of the News

Well, it's not like Russia can blame Syria; they invested too much and are too close to achieving their goal of a naval mega-base there to back down now. Nor will they blame themselves, even though they likely supplied the tech at the AA station in the first place.

Re: The Thread To Remind Me We're Living In The Future

Humans learned to cook their meat 500,000 years ago, and you can guarantee they didn't cook their food only to medium rare. In the days before modern sanitation, you either cooked your food thoroughly or you died a horrible tapeworm infested death. Even today, cook your food. Unless you want to turn...

Aren't prisons built like bunkers though? Discount bunkers, but bunkers nonetheless, and should be a bit sturdier than almost any other buildings in the area?

Uh... last I checked, insurers in the US didn't cover floods; the US government did. And since it was guaranteed issue, the result was properties built in flood zones that otherwise never would've been built, subsidized by the taxpayer.

I set up my games with a very large starting area and no enemy expansion and rare but large resources (a custom version of rail world), so I don't see attacks until around the time I've got laser turrets. So apparently, in 1981 there were 3000 no-knock warrants, versus 50,000 in 2005 and I'm guessing even more in 2017. Yet last I checked, there is far less illicit drug use than back in the 70's/80's. Maaaaybe we could do with fewer no-knocks?

Re: British EU referendum in June [update: Leave wins 52% - 48%, politics ensue]

Kind of a moot point as to whether the blame for the cover up lies with the council/socialservices/police 33/33/33 or 25/25/50 or 20/10/70. Someone in government fucked up, but more importantly, it's led to a massive backlash against immigrants in general. And Xenophobia is not a precision weapon, s...

No, the councils and social services were covering it up too. Not just the police. Here's an article from Forbes as to why they were covering it up, or the TL;DR version, "Politikal Kurectniss Gonne Madd!" Not sure if that's the actual case, but it is the narrative being pushed by a combin...
