Been there, done that, ended far worse.

Glad you're doing well.

Re: 1116: "Traffic Lights"

Ah, traffic lights. We have one here that goes Green-Yellow-Red-Yellow-Red-Green, like it's messing with you. I find myself reminded of an old "Robotman" (or "Monty") comic where they go to a foreign country and Monty rents a car. Robotman objects on the grounds that they don't k...

Awesome list, thanks! I wanted to download 'em all and this saved me a ton of time! Question, though: http://imgs.xkcd.com/clickdrag/3n1w.png seems to be a 404. Typo?

Not surprising. How many things go from under- to overcooked in less than ten seconds?

Re: 1037(?): Umwelt

Here are all the panels I’ve gotten so far in Maine, in no particular order: Netscape: http://imgs.xkcd.com/a1panels/82b9eecc2dc7bc972f75fa0dbb0fd80990201460930501fb5e890c08d205350c.png Weird. Why'd I get tentacle chick and you got generic guy? Mine was reporting as NS 6.2 (though it wasn't really)...

Re: 1037(?): Umwelt

I ran through my older browsers on my older boxes, including three Netscapes, and I hit this one: http://s91291220.onlinehome.us/formica/xkcdnetscape.png Which is funny because that was the one browser on that machine that wasn't Netscape. I must've twerked the user-agent at some point.

Re: 988: "Tradition"

I thought "I Believe In Father Christmas" was just Greg Lake? And U2 has done a great cover of that song, as well. Might be. I have a friend who's a fan of Emerson, Lake and Palmer who told me about the song, so it's possible I just stuck a name to it without checking. I'll look into it, ...

Re: 988: "Tradition"

Ah, it's moments like this that I retreat to the warmth of my Christmas playlist, compiled slowly but steadily over the years: Bad Religion - God Rest You Jerry Mentleman Emerson, Lake And Palmer - I Believe in Father Christmas Ilaria Graziano - Christmas in the Silent Forest Jonathan Coulton - Chir...

Re: 0931: Lanes

Wow. This comic reminds me a lot of the last 10 years. I had cancer myself, and my mom's breast cancer came back in her bones and finally her liver. Learned a lot in that decade. Still wish I never needed to know as much about cytotoxins as I know now, though. I also developed my mom's hatred for th...

I had cancer.

Three years later I bought a cell phone

HA! ANECDOTAL PROOF! It's the strongest proof ever because it happened to me and not some random person on the Internet.

Re: 0806: Tech Support

I've called tech support, been a call centre drone, and now I'm a retail store's PC service tech. I've learned a few things: 1) Most people who work in call centres are idiots. The rest are desperate for work. Almost anyone good will burn out fast , leaving only those who can take abuse from callers...

So yeah. I'd believe e-mailing the person across from you, even if they are physically there at the time of the emailing. Sometimes it's just easier. And how. Especially if you're e-mailing a URL. I once started to jot down a URL for a guy, but then I realized how error-prone screen-paper-screen co...

Thought some of you guys might find this interesting. I was doing some cleaning (moving in 2 months) and found an old Games Magazine (January/February 1981). Inside is an article called "The $100,000 Gambit" about an artist named Mark Wessels who was selling his collection of 43 unusual/ra...
