Re: Rush Limbaugh Rushed to Hospital

Wishing Mr. Limbaugh the best of luck. I may disagree with a lot of what he says, but he was a huge influence on my life while I was a republican and has remained so after my Libertarian conversion. The last thing I need is for someone else I really like to die this year... Sorry, just the emo in me...

Re: Nothing that happens is random

I agree with the statement, "nothing is random", because I believe in causality as one of the main forces acting in our universe. Everything that happens or has happened (with the exception of the "creation" of the universe) has been caused by something or other. Randomness impli...

Re: Widespread inaccurate beliefs

Ayn Rand wrote a lot about this - she came up with a whole new morality, attacked almost every civilization that's every existed as fatally flawed, and developed a pretty good program for scrapping the whole system and replacing it. However, the plan doesn't only apply well to her philosophy, it can...

Re: What is your favourite book?

Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand. ... (It won't work, I'm wearing a bulletproof vest) It's a great portrait of heroic, rational businessmen fighting the advances of a socialist state. Complealty changed the way I viewed the entire world. If you haven't read it, you need to. War and Peace - it's really wo...

Re: Moderatores Populusque XKCDi [Latin]

Question to latin speakers: I would like to learn latin, mostly because of interesting historical context, and the huge influence it has had. My school doesn't offer any latin, and I am a high schooler in a small town, so not really any latin speakers around here. But I am wondering, is this a diff...

So about nine bucks?

If you really care about the pencil you use, then it is absolutely worth it.

Re: I need pen recommendations!

My pen: A silver and gold Cross pen that came with a matching .7 pencil for $20. It writes really well; I usually don't use pens, but this is a good pen. I will be completely honest, though, there is one better: a Pilot V-ball grip pen, extra fine. But it's not as cool as a cross pen, and the "...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

My Name is Thadius, and I can promise you, you will never find another person vaguely like me. I play the stock market, read* a ton, and write like a typewriter. I'm a political agitator, and have been driven off** of several internet forums because of my ethical and political beliefs. 8) I have a p...
